COLIN GEORGE WHITEHURST
July 25, 1937 - November 17, 2021
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Anne.
He was born in England and immigrated to Canada in 1968 with his beloved wife and their two children, Robert and Steven.
Dad worked for many years as a Psych Nurse at Manitoba Developmental Centre in Portage, later becoming a Community Service Worker for the Mentally Handicapped in Winnipeg Region. He retired in 1993. Dad was always on the go; an avid gardener, an accomplished traveller, soccer player/coach, golfer, handyman, birdwatcher, visiting casinos around the country, and walking on the beach. Dad and his stories will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank the numerous doctors and nurses involved in his care.
A small service for family will be held on December 8, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. at Henderson Hwy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

I worked with Colin at “108 Bond” in my role as a public health nurse. Colin was a memorable character - lively, interesting and committed to his clients. His stories and love of people are gifts to many. Sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Donalda Wotton (Former Co-Worker) on: Dec 04, 2021

I was saddened to hear of Colin's passing. Colin was such an asset in our building. He planted the most beautiful flowers surrounding the front entrance. He was a fantastic bingo caller and always willing to lend a hand. We had commonality regarding health issues and shared conversation about such. He fought hard and may you RIP Colin. My heartfelt condolences to everyone that had the pleasure of having Colin in their lives. - Posted by: Janet Carr (Neighbour ) on: Dec 04, 2021
