MARY ZACHARIAS
Our family is grieving the loss of an extraordinary mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After a short illness, mom passed into God's loving hands with her daughter Elaine by her side. Mom had unwavering faith and strongly believed God loved us all.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Henry; daughter Tammy; son Bernie; sister Kay Krahn; and great-granddaughter Savy Turcotte. She is survived by her children, Elaine (Albert Turcotte), Robert Zacharias (Linda), Debbie (Irvin Unger), and Cathy (Doug McKay); grandchildren, Kasey (Chris), Kelly (Doug), Kimberley (Jay), Jackie (Gary), Eric (Elise), Jennifer (Lin), Aaron (Guylaine), and Alex (Gwen); numerous great-grandchildren; as well as her sisters, Helen Wiebe and Elfrieda Harms.
Mom was the grandchild caregiver and emergency contact number. She could always be counted on for lunch, such as waffles, fried noodles, and French fries. Her couch must have been the most comfortable around because every grandchild that came over ended up there to rest and be comforted.
She welcomed family and friends at all times. Everyone knew her phone number by heart. It was their emergency number and she was always available. She devoted her life to her family. She and our father took care of Tammy for over 40 years, keeping her home and looking after her every need until Tammy's death in 2011.
Mom was an avid Blue Bomber fan for 50 years, GO Blue! Mom loved watching curling and at times would become involved in a good book, reading until 3:00 a.m. The Free Press crossword was a daily activity.
Mom,
How very, very lucky we were that you were our mother. You opened our minds and our hearts. You always had the time.
You always picked us up when we fell down. You will always be the most important lady in our lives. Your love and guidance will always be with us. We wish you could have been with us longer, but we are so grateful for the time we had. All of us, your friends and family, will truly miss you.
Thank you so much for being our mother! May God care for you as you did for us!
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Birds Hill Park, Mom's favourite gathering place.

Elaine, Robert, Cathy and Debbie and families. My deepest sympathies on the loss of your mom. Always so hard to say goodbye to them no matter the age or circumstance. Your mom was the most warm and hospitable person. Always a huge smile when we saw her. I know our parents loved visiting with your parents and now they can have their reunion in heaven and play some cards or go fishing etc. I know for sure they will be laughing. Please take care and know we're thinking of you. - Posted by: Hilda Persad (Niece) on: Jan 15, 2022
