JOYCE TERVOORT
It is with deep sadness that the family of Joyce Tervoort announce her passing, on January 12, 2022, at the age of 86.
Joyce was born in Dunrea, Manitoba on February 24, 1935, to Joe and Jill Souyri, the eldest of their three children. After graduating from high school, she worked a short time in Dunrea before moving to Winnipeg. In 1959 she met her future husband, Frank, and they married in 1961. Joyce and Frank celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last May.
Joyce is survived by her husband Frank; her three sons, Bruce (Debbie), Doug and Randy (Pam); and grandchildren, Meghan, Derek, Brittany (Josh), Ceejay, Nicole, Kristen (Brandon), Melanie and Mark; and great-grandchildren, Harlyn, Jake, Kaleb and Ariel. She is also survived by her sister Jo-Anne; her sister-in-law Glynis Black, sister-in-law Yopie and brother-in-law Kees Potter. She was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Jill Souyri; brother Benny; father and mother-in-law, Gys and Miep Tervoort; brother-in-law Peter and his wife Joyce; and grandson-in-law Simon Edwards.
After raising her sons, Joyce joined the workforce at Air Canada. Joyce, Frank and the family enjoyed travelling and camping. After retirement, Joyce and Frank spent many memorable winters in Weslaco, Texas.
Joyce was an outgoing, cheerful person with an infectious laugh who enjoyed dancing, socializing and the occasional glass of red wine (chilled).
Joyce's funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Vital Parish on February 24, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., with Father Mark A. Tarrant officiating. Attendance will adhere to the health care restrictions in place at that time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

My deepest sympathy to you, Frank, Bruce, Doug and Randy, on the loss of your wife and mother. I will remember her as a strong woman, enduring so many painful surgeries on her leg, and still managing to smile and laugh. As I write this, I am waiting for my own mother to finish her life’s journey. I’m sure Joyce will be waiting to welcome her into heaven, where they can catch up. They enjoyed good times in Texas and at Riverwood. God bless you all, and may your memories of her love and laughter live in your hearts forever. - Posted by: Michelle Samagalski (Friend) on: Feb 09, 2022
