KEVIN GERARD DEVINE
July 3, 1968 - January 14, 2022

Kevin, one of the kindest, most generous and most affable individuals anyone could meet, died at home January 14, 2022 unexpectedly and all too early.
He was the youngest of seven children and as the "baby" of the family had an especially close relationship with his 94 year old widowed mother, Rosemary. In addition to being an exceptionally patient and loving son, he was a beloved, loving, and caring brother, uncle and great-uncle. He will also be missed by his many friends and his colleagues.
Kevin attended Red River Community College and became a journeyman plumber, the trade in which he was employed for all of his working life. Although plumbing was his job, in his free time he was always ready at the drop of a hat to help family and friends with their plumbing problems.
Kevin loved cars. Even as a wee pre-school boy on a car ride, he would rattle off the names of all of the cars passing by. His most recent pride and joy was his classic Ford Thunderbird.
Kevin also liked fixing up his house in St. Vital, often with the assistance of various tradesmen friends, returning the favour in exchange for his help with their homes.
Kevin was predeceased by his father Jim, and four brothers, Dan, Lorne, Jamie, and Matthew. He is survived by his mother Rosemary, his sisters, Susan (Robb Tonn) and Ginny (Gary Doer), and brother John (Rena) of Red Deer. He was a favourite uncle to the numerous nieces and nephews with whom he had a special relationship. He is also survived by his Aunt Rita Bullock (Palm Springs), her son Richard (Toni) also of Palm Springs and cousins, Michelle Convey (Frank), Michael Convey (Mary Celine) and Mary Quase (Mickey).

A memorial service will take place on Friday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Foundation Manitoba or Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • I was so sad to hear of Kevin’s passing. We went to St. Gerards together and I can still see his face light up with that great mischievous grin and hear his laugh! He was a happy and friendly soul. Sending love and hugs to Kevin’s family and friends. - Posted by: Maeve Savage (Elementary school friend ) on: Feb 06, 2022

  • My deepest condolences go out to the entire Devine family, his beloved mother Rosemary, sister Susan (Robb Tonn), sister Ginny (Gary Doer), brother John (Rena) & families. Growing up in Morse Place I got to know the entire Devine clan. Although I chummed around with Lorne & Jamie, Kevin was always around when I went by the house to shoot pool with the boys. Happy and smiling all the time. Such a polite young fellow that you couldn't help but like him. He never changed, he just got better with age! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very difficult time. RIP 🙏 Kevin. - Posted by: Dave Smith (Friend of the family ) on: Jan 27, 2022

  • My deepest condolences to the family. Kevin was a great, kind and caring person who was willing to help anyone out that was in need of his services. I will miss him dearly. - Posted by: Garry Franko (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2022

  • My heartfelt sympathies to each and every family member on this heartbreaking loss. My family was blessed to know the Devine family ever since I was a small child. Even though my family moved to my mother's home town of Ottawa when I was 16, it was always a joy to know and stay in touch with the Devine family. I first met Kevin when he was 4 on a visit to Winnipeg and he was a perfectly delightful child, impossible to forget. I was able to see him a number of times in recent years, when I visited Winnipeg. He was a great man, very caring (especially to his beautiful Mom), with a good sense of humour, hard-working, and a friend to people of all ages. The best guy ever, a perfectly lovable guy. The Devine family's love is rock solid and I am privileged to know them. I am keeping all of them in my thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Patricia A. Holst (Family Friend) on: Jan 24, 2022

  • Dear Ginny (and Gary), Susan, John, Mrs. Devine (still can't call her Rosemary) and family. My and the extended Lussier family's condolences to all of you on another tragic loss. We grew up all as good friends of the Devines and I remember when Kevin was born (I was about 10 at the time and was closest with Jamie). Very sad to hear of Kevin's passing. My mom June sends along her condolences to all also. - Posted by: Tom Lussier (Friend of the family) on: Jan 24, 2022

  • So very sorry to hear of Kevin’s passing! My sincere condolences to Mrs Devine (Rosemary) and to Susan and Ginny and John and their families. I can only imagine how hard this is for you all. Mom (June) would really like to send a card to Rosemary if she knew where to send it. - Posted by: Laura Campbell (Lussier) (Friend of family (John and I grew up together on Fleming)) on: Jan 23, 2022

  • I grew up across the back lane from Kev and his family. I remember the mischief he used to get in to as a youngster. He was always smiling and happy. I was shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. My condolences to Mrs. Devine and the rest of the family. - Posted by: Sherry Rees (Kiliwnik) (Grew up across the back lane from the Devine family ) on: Jan 23, 2022

I’d like to send my condolences to the family and I’m sorry of Kevin’s departure.
