VASSILIOS (BILL) CARAVELIS
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and dog's best friend on January 24, 2022.
He was predeceased by his son, Antoni. He leaves behind his wife Valia; daughter Dimitra; daughter-in-law Angie; grandchildren, Vassili, Valentina and Minnie and the eldest of five sisters, Ann. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill was a strong, courageous, kind and wonderful man. Born and raised in Greece, he came to Canada in 1958 to create a life for his family. He opened and ran "Bills Texaco," where he serviced cars for the public and his family. He showed his family what it means to work hard and achieve your dreams. Bill was a proud, loving man and was always thinking of others. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. Most importantly, Bill will be loved and missed eternally by all those around him.
We want to express our gratitude to all caregivers and family members for their ongoing efforts during this difficult time.
A private family service will be held on Tuesday, February 1 at 11:00 a.m. for Bill. To view the live stream please visit: https://youtu.be/bOt7FQIUaKw
Interment to be held at Waverley Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so can donate in Bill's memory to the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.

Our hearts ache to hear the news of our beloved Theo Vasili. Growing up, he was always there for us. He would include me in everything, such as car rides, bringing me to the Ford Christmas parties, trips to Greece, as well as many other events too many to list. This is a testament to his big caring heart. He was very creative and thoughtful. He would go out of his way to keep us entertained when we were young. There were several times he built swings in the basement and outside. He would invent all kinds of creations for us to play with. We will never forget you. I hope he knows how much he meant to us. Thank you, Theo Vasili, for all your love and support. You will always live in our hearts and thoughts. - Posted by: Kathy (Latsoudes) & Chris Olmstead (Niece) on: Feb 01, 2022

We express our deepest condolences to the family of Thea Valia and offer our prayers. Theo Vassili was kind and hardworking who was dedicated to family, business, community, and to all those whose lives he touch with support and philoxenia. He will be fondly remembered at many family gatherings and for his insights into socio-economic/political matters where he strove to seek ways to improve the human condition with fairness and objectivity. Also, his staunch support of Greek culture contributed to the promotion of Hellenism. Plato once said: “Excellence is not a gift but a skill that takes practice. We do not act ‘rightly’ because we are ‘excellent’ In fact, we achieve ‘excellence by acting rightly.” He truly led life toward excellence that sets an example for us to follow. Eonia Eimnemi (May his memory be eternal). - Posted by: William, Simon Constan Family (Friend) on: Jan 31, 2022

On behalf of the AHEPA Family and Winnipeg Chapter Polikos Aster CJ8, I express our deepest sympathy to the family of Vassilios Caravelis and offer our prayers. Through his kindness and dedication to community, Vassili contributed generously and tirelessly to the many cultural and charitable activities of the Order of AHEPA (American Hellenic and Progressive Association) for decades; both before and after joining AHEPA in 2002. His participation in many chapter endeavors was made with an enthusiasm and desire for excellence. His contribution to life fulfilled the ideals of family/excellence, education, civic responsibly, philanthropy, and Hellenism. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. May God bless his soul and may his memory be eternal (Eonia Eimnemi). - Posted by: AHEPA Family (William Constan-AHEPA Chapter Secretary) (Friend-Chapter Member) on: Jan 31, 2022
