DOUGLAS ROBERT BOWMAN
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our truly loved Doug Bowman, 75 on Friday, January 21, 2022.
Douglas Robert Bowman, son of Ivy and Allan Bowman, was born July 26, 1946 in the county of York in England. He immigrated to Canada when he was a small child. After he became a citizen, there was no prouder Canadian than Doug.
Doug worked as a registered mail clerk at Canada Post for 30 years until his retirement.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife and soulmate, Shirley Bowman (King), who he met when he was 13. They were together from then on until her death in 2017, and are now together again forever.
He leaves behind to mourn, his younger sister Marie "Meme" Hallson (Bowman), his brother-in-law Jack King (Jan Presley), his niece Shannon (Geoff) Zywina, nephew Sean King (Crystal Laborero), niece Annie Hallson (Mike Cousins) his fur baby and best friend Buttercup Bowman, and his pride and joy great -nieces and nephew, Kyra (Houston) and Caelin King, Montana and Madison Laborero, Signe and Kate Zywina, Avery Unger and Sebastian and Ali Cousins.
Doug was a unique, fun-loving, stubborn and generous man with a love for nature, animals, the colour neon green, everything Canadiana, his TV and above all else, his family.
He never failed to put a smile on our faces or to make us laugh. He will forever live on in our hearts and memories as that big kid "Dougie" who got more toys on his birthdays than any of the kids.
We love you eternally (Uncle) Doug. We will always miss you, but are all happy knowing that you are with (Auntie) Shirley once again.
A private family Celebration of Life will take place at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

I remember when my family moved to Radford when I was 9, so 47 years ago. Shirley and Doug had their dog Diamond and I would go there to house and asked if I could walk her. That's where and when our friendship started. Doug was a great friend to my mom(Esther) and dad (Brian Keeley) and always offered a helping hand when he could. They got along well and I know my dad misses his best bud. They had so much in common including both coming from England. Doug always spoke lovingly about his family. My deepest condolences to all his family. Both Doug and Shirley are missed. - Posted by: Coreena Keeley (Friend) on: Feb 27, 2022

I had the pleasure of being a friend to Doug over the past 10 years. He always had a good story for me, even if it was something silly he had done that he just couldn't keep to himself! He always spoke fondly of his family and of course Shirley whom he missed dearly. He will be missed, but my heart is happy that he is reunited with his dearest love. Prayers for his family and friends as he will be missed. - Posted by: Liza Hamm (Friend) on: Feb 01, 2022

My sincere condolences to Doug’s family. I worked with Doug for 30 years and he was funny and a real nice fellow. We used to go for walks on our lunch breaks and had a few laughs. - Posted by: Judy Shkolny (Co worker) on: Jan 29, 2022
