JAMES STUART LOCKIE

With his loving wife and three sons by his side, James Stuart Lockie passed away peacefully on January 29, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jim will be greatly missed by his wife of 59 years, Jeanette, nee Schellenberg; sons, Jamie (Mae), David (Kelly) and Don; grandchildren, Dana (Logan), Kristen and Owen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary (Jan), Jim (Judy), Roger (Fran) and Terryl (Doug); numerous nephews, nieces and many wonderful friends, most of whom Jim knew since childhood. He was predeceased by his brother Bob and sister-in-law Cathy.
Jim was born on October 17, 1942 in Winnipeg, MB to James and Edna Lockie. Jim married his childhood sweetheart Jeanette on August 25, 1962. Jim had a rewarding career at the Department of National Defence, retiring as the Senior Draughtsman after 29 years of service. Jim was a voracious reader and had many interests in music, radio shows and movies. He was an avid outdoorsman and a huge fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Winnipeg Jets. Jim will always be remembered for his friendly, kindhearted nature and his vast knowledge of trivia and interesting facts.
The family cabin at Laclu, Ontario was a big part of his life and had a special place in his heart since he was born. Jim loved being a "Winter Texan," enjoying ten wonderful years in San Benito, after having had many adventures in their camper "Casper" travelling throughout the USA and Canada.
A private family service was held on February 3, 2022. Friends and family are invited to view his memorial page and leave condolences at:

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Many great memories in my childhood and teenage years include Jim Lockie and eventually Janette. As a youngster, I spent time with him and his family in Laclu where I watched him learn to swim and with the help of a half horsepower motor on an old plywood boat, explored every bay on the lake. We sometimes had to row home because we could get the motor to start. In our school years, we had a gang that hung out at the Wildwood Pharmacy, built tree forts and eventually started dating and having dance parties in the family basements. We graduated together and went separate ways on gaining employment. Mine took me out of Province and we slowly lost direct contact although the grape vine occasional brought some news. He, as I. would have turned 80 years old this year. In all they have been the best of times to have visited this earth. - Posted by: Jim Swanson (Schoolmate, childhood friend, neighbour) on: Mar 08, 2022
