I first, met Mr. McLean, through his daughter Sherry when we were in Junior High School together. He was sitting in his chair and looking at us over top of his glasses and newspaper. Also, I made his day when he brought us Doritos and cream cheese dip and I gave him great big hug. Later on after my divorce I moved in the Cavalier Drive Apts and the McLeans were our neighbours. They watched both of my children grow up. Sherry, I will always have fond memories of your parents. - Posted by: JoDee Peichl (Friend and Neighbour) on: Feb 06, 2022

Richard had two passions - his family, and trucking. When Richard was in his early teens he bought an old Model T (A - not sure which) that he fixed up and, because he wasn't old enough to get a license, he drove it up and down the ungraded road between our house and the lake which was about 1/8 of a mile, if that. That was the beginning of his passion for driving - it soon became his livelihood as he trucked all over Canada and U.S. As my family moved around, especially in Ontario, we'd get a call from Rich telling us where he was, and we'd head to the nearest truck stop for a visit. He and his wife attended our son's (Les) wedding - having travelled to Kingston in his big rig (always on an official trip, of course). On one stop in the outskirts of Toronto, our son Andrew and family went with us to visit with Uncle Richard - their boys were about 3 and 4 and were delighted to climb into his truck and especially into his bed compartment. That was a memorable experience for the little guys. Miss you bro!! - Posted by: Sally Carr (Sister) on: Feb 05, 2022
