RICHARD LEO JOSEPH DIONNE
November 24, 1956 – February 1, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce that Rick Dionne passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on February 1, 2022, at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 65 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years Susan (Robertson) Dionne; children, Chantal (Jon) and Marc; grandchildren, Dominic and Abigail; siblings, Louise (Dave) Morgan and Lorraine (Rocky) Hovorka; nephews, Bobby (Debbie) Morgan, Cory Hovorka and Tyler (Penny) Hovorka; niece Melissa Hovorka; extended Robertson family and friends. Rick was predeceased by his parents, Robert (Bob) and Irene.
Rick was born and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He worked at Burns for 25 years. After, we moved to Woodridge, Manitoba where he was a school bus driver for 20 years.
Dad's kind, loving personality brought him friends wherever he went, and he was fortunate to have many close lifelong friends. Dad was a proud father and grandfather, who took the time to develop a special relationship and bond with his children and grandchildren.
Dad and Mom loved spending summers at their cottage in Beauty Bay, Ontario entertaining family and friends. He loved the lake life and driving his pontoon boat and watching his children and grandchildren playing in the water and on the beach. He enjoyed his annual boys golfing weekend at Beauty Bay. In winters, Dad enjoyed fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling at their home in Woodridge.
Rick will be forever remembered for his passionate loyalty to his teams, the Bombers, the Vikings, the Blue Jays and the Jets. Dad organized a yearly NHL hockey draft pool for 40 years.
Rest in Peace Dad.
Rick's family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at St. Boniface ICM who provided excellent care to our dad.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Rick's life will be held at a later date. In the meantime, Rick's family kindly requests that his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by visiting his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography, as well as memories and stories published by those who knew him, are available there.

  • Sandy and I would like to offer our sincere condolences to all of the family. I have known Rick for 40 plus years. During that time we have shared property, worked together, and spent a great deal of time snowmobiling, four wheeling, dirt biking out at in Woodridge and can’t forget the golf and poker weekends at Beauty Bay. I have known few people that are as big hearted as my buddy Rick. If you ever needed a hand with anything he was there. This is a guy who enjoyed entertaining his friends and family so much that he spent countless thousands of dollars building extra accommodations at all his properties so that his friends and family could come out and stay overnight . Whether it was his good hunting friends Gerry, Rolly, Charlie, Morgan and Bobby, his snowmobiling friends Gary, Gil, Gerry and myself or all his golf buddies everyone had a place to sleep at Chez Rickys. His kindness and generosity is the reason he had so many friends. He will be missed by many. Rest In Peace my friend. - Posted by: Maurice Lavergne (Longtime friend) on: Feb 06, 2022

  • When my brother Ron called to tell me about Rick's passing, he was unconsolable. He mentioned that Rick was the brother he wished he'd always had. Their friendship was special and has left him with so many memories. Their get-togethers at Beauty Bay, their little jaunts to South Beach and many more family times. Rick and Ron hit the jackpot when they married 2 beautiful sisters, Susan and Barb. My heart goes out to Susan, Chantal and Marc as well as all the family. - Posted by: Pat Krueger (Friend ) on: Feb 05, 2022
