GARTH CHRISTOPHER DAVIE
January 27, 2002 - January 28, 2022
It is with deep sadness that we wish to announce the sudden passing of Garth, our beloved son. Garth turned 20 years of age before his death leaving behind his family who miss him dearly.
Garth was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba at St. Boniface Hospital. He spent his early childhood years in Warren, MB then moved to Winnipeg to attend grade 1 at St. Maurice Catholic School. Garth then attended school in the Fort Garry area at General Byng and Vincent Massey schools until he graduated on June 2020 with his grade 12 diploma. Garth's intention was to attend college to expand his skills in electronics, computers, and software. He just said last month, "I am definitely doing the college thing". Since early childhood, Garth was enthusiastic, learning about all types of electronics from earlier years. Dismantling circuit boards and saving electronic parts to apply to projects he was working on. He spent many hours and many trips to Value Village for materials. He liked to make videos and post them to his YouTube channel "Poofy53". Garth's other ambitions were spending countless hours in the garage working on building projects and recycling precious metals, getting 50-60-year-old TVs working again. One project was building his own radio transmitter to broadcast around Winnipeg and building the platform in the front yard with lumber.
Garth had a big heart, loved his parents and his dog Midnight and cat Sunshine. He was always looking to help others out. He will be missed so much by his mother Denise Wilcott and father Christopher Davie including all family around him. Garth will never be forgotten and will always live within our hearts until we all meet again in heaven. He is definitely being watched over in heaven by his grandma and grandpa Wilcott, and his aunty Christine Davie among other relatives
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Vital Parish, 1629 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Garth was a very kind, funny intelligent person who you could always count on to make you smile. He had the most contagious laugh, always telling jokes, trying to make everybody around him happy. He was always thinking about others, always asking how everyone was doing; a couple years ago I would always get texts from Garth asking if I needed my lawn mowed or my driveway shoveled or if I knew anyone who did. When he wasn’t thinking of others he was taking apart some computer or some device and putting it back together to make it work, it was incredible. I have so many fond memories of Garth and he will be missed so much by so many - Posted by: Chelsey Morin (Friend) on: Feb 13, 2022

I met Garth a few times, through mutual friends. I always found Garth was very polite, and he just had a good vibe. He always reminded me of someone and I just couldn’t put my finger on it, until one night at a get together - it clicked. Has anyone ever seen Wayne’s World, well apparently he and his friend Adam hadn’t, and trying to explain to them that Garth looked like Garth from Waynes World was quite amusing. I then searched up a pic, showed Garth and Adam, and we all had a really good laugh. Sorry for your loss, too young, too soon. Our deepest sympathies yo his family, and friends. - Posted by: Rob Ryder (Acquaintance ) on: Feb 13, 2022

I met Garth via a group chat online, and the man was always a good laugh and a great person to have a conversation with. I will never forget this man and his random once a month video calls to the chat, fly high dawg. - Posted by: Callum (Online Friend ) on: Feb 12, 2022

I first met Garth in middle school, and even back then one could tell the peculiar brilliance, giving personality, and keen sense of humour he possessed. It wasn't until high school that I really got to know Garth, we would talk or hang out often, and he was always excited to share his most recent Kijiji purchase, which he often turned into projects. These ranged from anything as small as recommissioning an old TV to as big as building a satellite in his backyard. My favourite memory with him was working on school video projects, which he was always enthusiastic about and often gave creative insight. Deepest condolences to his family. - Posted by: Toby Vanderwater (Friend and former classmate) on: Feb 09, 2022

Garth, You were truly a light in so many of our lives, but to me you were so much more. You were the familiar hug in between classes, the knowledgeable soul who knew how to take apart a computer (and then somehow put it back together), you were the radiant smile that lit up the room, the chatty companion on a walk to 7/11 and the only teenager I’ve ever encountered who handed me a flip phone when exchanging numbers! But most of all Garth, you were loved. SO. LOVED. Oh, and tie your damn shoes laces! Until we meet again! -Leah - Posted by: Leah Mitchell (Friend ) on: Feb 08, 2022

Garth was such an amazing boy. The time Garth and I spent together was both entertaining and fun. He had the kindest of souls and taught me a thing or two about electrical gadgets. I will remember him with a smile on my face and knowing that my life is so much richer because I had the pleasure to know and spend valuable time with him. My heart felt condolences to all his family and friends. A beautiful life gone way too soon. - Posted by: Colleen Dow (EA at St Maurice School ) on: Feb 08, 2022

Hello, My names Nick. I'd like to share some memories I shared with Garth as I will never forget the countless talks and memories we shared. Garth Davie was a genuine, kind hearted kid. I was blessed to have the opportunity to know Garth since I entered grade two at SMS. In a lot of ways me and Garth were similar. I was a troubled kid in my early schooling years and most of the time I was sent outside of the room during class for having outbursts. I can't count the amount of times I would get sent out of my class and see Garth (who was also sent out of class) And we would just talk. Talk and talk about whatever was on our minds. We shared that moment almost daily... Sometimes I would get sent out before him and I would almost be sad to not see him there with me. Eventually we were both expelled from the same school where we reunited at General Byng. A school with a ton of support for kids like us. Before GB I found kids like me and Garth were treated poorly and misunderstood. We never meant harm. I was blessed to follow Garth's journey through General Byng and Vincent Massey where I found we both fit in a lot better and were accepted for who we were. Many times in high school I would skip out of class and go to the cafeteria to mess around with my other friends and Garth would come sit down and talk for the entire period. Garth was loved by dozens of kids in our high school. We didn't just love Garth because he was funny or a good guy to talk to, Instead we loved Garth because he always reminded us that in life sometimes you need to take a step back from all the heavy and stressful times and just relax, sit back and talk about random interests and hobbies we enjoy to do. I think one of the biggest misunderstandings about Garth was how smart he really was. Garth was a kid who you could bring a million broken bits and pieces of any electronic and he would find a way to get that item to work. I wish more people could of seen the pure intelligence this kid had. I think some of the biggest problems we face in society is focusing too hard on the "cookie cutter" abilities that one person has. Was he good at math? Maybe not but I can guarantee Garth could disassemble and reassemble a 1990s computer. I can sit here and ramble on and on about the countless memories and times we shared as kids growing up going to the same three schools. I would like to end this off by saying; If you ever see someone in life who faces mental challenges and maybe doesn't have as good grades or doesn't have the same social skills. Don't bring that person down about it. Lift them up. Praise their abilities. Show them that the skills they have are important. We are all different. We are all special in our own way; Garth I will always remember and love you for that. Rest easy little buddy. I know you're somewhere right now working on your next project. I will always defend you little buddy. Love you forever. Thanks for holding that piece to my heart. - Posted by: Nicholas Ingleson ( Friend) on: Feb 08, 2022

From the moment Garth entered General Byng School he showed kindness to everyone. Garth had a curious mind that wanted to explore and figure everything out. He was funny and entertaining without trying to be. I have so many happy and fond memories with Garth at the center of it. He will always be an unforgettable soul that touched the lives of more people than he ever realised. Gone too soon but never forgotten. Rest In Peace Garth. Our deepest condolences to his family. - Posted by: Evelina Pescitelli ( Former PE teacher) on: Feb 07, 2022

Garth was always very excited to tell me about his latest kijiji electronics find, and how he was planning to fix it. He was a very entertaining young man with a sense of humor that was often misunderstood. He was an entertaining and smart young man who will be missed by many. My sincerest condolences to his family. - Posted by: Dawn youngbird (EA at vmc and GB ) on: Feb 05, 2022
