  • I heard from Dan Ptolemy about George's passing & was immediately reminded of all of us as young boys growing up on Sharpe Blvd. The Custance home was the "go-to" place for many of us to gather in the basement rec room with pool table & TV viewing. George & brother Ted always were so much fun & inviting. Remember all piling into Robert's English car (old Morris?) and driving to the local burger-joint for 25 cent nips. Sorry to say the last time I saw George was spring 2000 at the St. James Collegiate reunion & party for the "Sharpe boys" at Bob Demarais' house & seeing Barb, John & a young Dawna. Good to know the Custance home on Sharpe is occupied by the next generation to build their family memories. With gratitude to known & grown-up with George, Barb, & brothers Robert & Ted. Rest easy friend. - Posted by: Bob Nitychoruk (Freind) on: Feb 05, 2022

  • My sincere condolences go to Barbara, his children and his many adored grandchildren. George & I grew up together on Sharpe Blvd. in St. James, Winnipeg. It was a wonderful place to live, where you knew everyone, their kids and their parents. George was a bit of a jokester, but always in a kind way. He was friends with my two younger brothers, Don and Clair (both now gone as well). His older brother, Robert, was a true gentleman--and our Free Press delivery boy for many years. I know Barbara only online, but it has been pure pleasure becoming acquainted with her. We will continue to stay in touch I am sure. Once again, this news saddens me and I send warm thoughts to Barbara and her family. God bless you all. - Posted by: Elaine (McKerchar) Spencer (Friend) on: Feb 05, 2022
