LINDA MARY KLASSEN

With sadness and love, we announce the passing of Linda on February 3, 2022. She was born to Jake and Mary Klassen on August 25, 1943, the third child of seven.
She is survived by her two sons and their families, Chris Andrew and Jen (children, Scarlett, Ruby, Violet and Dexter); Stephen Andrew and Han (daughter Rowan). Also mourning her passing are two sisters, Rose Froese (Dave), Peg Neufeld (Don) and three brothers, Ted (Anita), Alan (Helen) and Dan (Leslie). She was predeceased by her parents and one brother Art (Aylene).
Linda had a happy childhood growing up on a farm, learning many everyday skills and walking the half mile to school. Visits with cousins, church and Sunday School were important parts of growing up. She attended Winkler Bible Camp and later, Winkler Bible School. She had a spirit of adventure, moved away from home as a teen and got a job in Winnipeg with the Red Cross; she also worked as a health care aid and subsequently, as an EMG technician at HSC. She spent several years in Mexico, helping those in need, and making lifelong friends.
She was a dedicated, loving and joyful mother and grandmother. She loved and encouraged her sons in all things. She was so very proud of all of her grandchildren; their pictures adorned her walls.
Her indomitable spirit and mischievous sense of humour carried her through 28 years of Parkinson's disease. Throughout this time, Linda continued to do her best, baking delicious desserts for the people in her building. As things became more difficult, she continued to be as independent as possible. One of her pleasures was going for long walks enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.
Her sons were a strength to Linda, taking care of needs that arose and spending time with her.
The family wants to thank the amazing caregivers of Thorvaldson Care Center, and later, of Riverview Health Center, for loving care. We are grateful for the times Linda could enjoy the outdoors and participate in group activities.
A private memorial service for close friends and family will be held this weekend.
We will remember and miss you Linda, mom, grandmother, sister and friend. We are glad your suffering has ended and rejoice to think you're in a place where there is no sorrow, sickness or heartache.

  • I will miss Linda immensely! I first met her at the Day Hospital and most recently in Long Term Care. I love her spunk, her sense of humour and her wit. My most recent time spent with Linda was laughing. We got i to the giggles about something silly. We were both laughing so hard we had tears streaming down our faces. She always had a smile for me as I did for her-almost like we had a secret no one else knew. She was simply one of my favourite people! My condolences to all her family and friends. ❤️ She is and will be missed so much!! - Posted by: Kara (Rehabilitation Assistant (Riverview)) on: Feb 12, 2022
