ELSIE EILEEN TOMLINSON
November 4, 1931 January 31, 2022
With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Elsie Tomlinson on January 31, 2022. Elsie was 90 years of age when she passed away peacefully at St. Boniface General Hospital, Winnipeg MB. Elsie had enjoyed being at home up until this time.
Elsie is survived and sadly missed by her sister Dorothy; sister-in-law Ann Tomlinson; her nephews, Jim (Kathy) and Scott; grandnieces and nephews, Kristopher Wiebe, Robert and Steven Tomlinson, Courtney Orr, Julia and Alexa Tomlinson; as well close relatives, Lennie Tomlinson, Louise Orr and numerous other cousins and extended family. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ethel (Donaldson) and older brothers, Norman and George; older sisters, Nellie Tomlinson and Lillian Buchholz (nee Tomlinson.)
Elsie was fifth born of six children on November 4, 1931 to Robert and Ethel Tomlinson. Elsie's dad, Robert, was born on the Tomlinson homestead near Minnedosa, MB, in 1888. Elsie's Mom, Ethel, was born in Bernie, MB in 1903.
Elsie attended Cameron School located on #10 highway till she graduated grade 11 as there was no grade 12 offered. At the age of 18, Elsie moved to Winnipeg to start her 44 year career with CIBC (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce). For many years, Elsie returned home on weekends and holidays maintaining her ties to family and friends in Minnedosa. Elsie and her sister Dorothy were avid supporters of sports. They enjoyed season tickets to the Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets for many seasons, starting with the original Jets.
Elsie loved and was well travelled; she saw some of Europe and enjoyed several trips to different parts of the United States to visit sister Betty (Betty moved frequently with her US Army husband Robert.)
Upon retirement, Elsie spent her winters in Winnipeg and returned home to Minnedosa in the summers. Elsie loved gardening and was a long-time member of the Minnedosa Horticultural Society. Elsie will be remembered always for her kind heart, patience with all the kids and laugh. Elsie was always laughing.
A family interment will be held at the Fairmont Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Minnedosa United Church.

I had the pleasure to work in the same office with Elsie starting in 1961. We lived in the same area and rode the same bus to work. She had an infectious laugh and was always smiling. Condolences to her family. Faye - Posted by: Faye Mason (co-worker) on: Feb 12, 2022

I was fortunate to have worked one desk over from Elsie for a couple of years. This was my first office job but by the time I met her she had already been there for 20+ years and had probably seen several dozen girls just like me. She was helpful, patient and kind; not to mention her wonderful sense of humour! And how she loved the Bombers! Though that was round about 50 years ago now, Elsie is still a much loved and remembered personality. My condolences to Dorothy and the rest of her family. - Posted by: Merril (Lofto) Johnson (Long ago coworker) on: Feb 12, 2022
