BARBARA PILCHER

Barbara Ellen Pilcher, 86 years, who loved to be called "Nanny" by her grandkids, departed her loving family peacefully, with her children by her side, on February 6, 2022, after a brave battle with cancer.
The loss of her husband of 62 years, Donald in 2019, was difficult, and while her family grieves her loss, we take comfort knowing that Donald (Poppa) and Barbara (Nanny) are together again.
She is survived by their sons, Mike (Liz) and Guy (Gail), daughter Terry (Mitch), eight grandchildren, Corey (Quinn), Ryan (Natasha), Megan (Mike), Lauren, Kyle (Kayla), Jasmine (Chris), Michaila, Dylan, and four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Torin, Lincoln, and Fiadh.
Earlier in life Barbara was involved with Kinettes and had worked for the Hudson Bay Company for a number of years, however her family was most important. Barbara was first and foremost a wife, mother and grandmother. She and Dad attended all school and sporting events, birthday and celebrations for her kids and later in life for her grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all.

Your Hug Meant the World
Nobody else held me so tight
Or made me feel so right
No one's eyes shined so bright with love
As my mom, who is now high above
-Tamsen Butler

Thank you to Dr. Harris and the staff at the Concordia Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society Winnipeg can be made in Barbara's name.

  • So much has changed in the neighbour I grew up in. If I remember what I was told correctly, the Pilcher's moved onto the block just weeks before my mom and dad did. It was a newly built block with very little around. My mum told me that the other mothers on the block would get together and play volleyball out in the field out back. There was an endless field behind the house and the landscape was very different from today. My mum is recently in care now and was saddened to hear that her yesteryear neighbour had passed. An era has modestly slipped away. Our family sends deepest condolences to the Pilcher family and hope you are finding what you need at this time. Thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Robert Fairbairn and family (Childhood neighbour) on: Feb 12, 2022
