TERESA LOUISE MANN
January 5, 1929 - February 15, 2022
Peacefully on February 15 at Concordia Place our dear Mother, Nana and Great-Nana, Terry Mann, passed away at the age of 93.
Mom will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children, Brenda Galvin (Gerry), Cathy Mann (Bob Calvert), Brock Mann (Pat) and grandchildren, Kelly McCrimmon (Micky), Emily, Madeline and Jack Mann, and great grandson McCoy McCrimmon.
She was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Norman Mann in November 2020 and eldest son Brian in 1978 at the age of 29. Her parents, William and Ksenia Glowacki, brothers, Walter, Michaj, Julian and Stanley, and her sisters, Mary Thomas, Cecilia Glowacki, Helen Packowich, and Bernice Smith. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mom met the love of her life Norm at Kelekis Restaurant and they went to Isaac Newton High School together, marrying shortly after. As a proud stay-at-home mom, she dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren and went to every sporting event or extracurricular activity they were involved in and was coined the 'Best Nana' by all her grandchildren. She loved cooking and baking and was known for her hos buns, piroshki and famous apple pies. Mom enjoyed reading, spending time with family, hosting dinners, trips out to the lake and fishing with her husband. Mom was always there to talk to, and the helping hand you needed.
Mom was an avid volunteer for the Cancer Society for 30 years and received a Certificate of Merit for her work. As a breast cancer survivor herself, she visited and counselled patients after their surgeries on how to live and excel as a survivor. She was featured in the CancerCare Magazine discussing life after breast cancer and spoke at a nurses convention on the effects of breast cancer on mental health and family relationships. Mom always took pride in her appearance and was an avid walker, and could be spotted walking her favourite route, Kildonan Drive. She and Dad were among the founding members of the Kildonan Place Mall Walkers. They named themselves the Trekkers and walked the mall every morning, finishing with coffee and chit chat with their friends.
She will be dearly missed by her family and all that knew her. Memorial donations may be made in Mom's name to CancerCare Manitoba. The family wants to thank her Oncologist Dr. Lin Yang for the many years of care for her treatment of MDS. Thanks also to those at Concordia Place, especially Nenita and Erika and the 4th floor staff for taking care of our Mom, Nana and Great-Nana. Thanks to everyone that takes the time to donate blood. Your blood kept our Mom alive for many years.
A small service will be held at Holy Ghost Cemetery at a later date.
To My Family
I go from you gently for it is my time
To take the next step
In this journey of mine
Don't grieve for me long
I have not left you alone
For I will be with you
In the love we have known

William and I loved my Aunt Terry, she was one of our favorite relatives. We didn't often see her without a cheery hi and a smile. Our heartfelt sympathy to her children, grandchildren, and great grandson. - Posted by: william and caroline burrows (niece) on: Feb 19, 2022
