BRUCE HAROLD LYON

We are sad to announce the passing of Bruce on March 4, 2022. He was predeceased by his father Harold; mother Muriel; father-in-law Frank Matiation and brother-in-law Edward Matiation.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marcia. Bruce felt very fortunate to have met her at a young age and was devoted to her for the rest of his life. He is also survived by his two sons, Blair (Marina), and Jason (Megan); his grandchildren, Ciara, Scarlett, Linden, Sadie, Calla and Will. He is also survived by his brothers, Grant (Ann) of England, Gordon (Bonnie-Jo) of Ontario and Glen of Winnipeg.
Although Bruce had a long and successful career (Manitoba Blue Cross), his main priorities and joy in life derived from his wife, children and grandchildren.
We would like to thank the Grace Hospital ICU Doctors and Nurses for their wonderful care.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. No service.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Cancer Care, Humane Society or Grace Hospital ICU (Intensive Care Unit).

To my Sons:
I just want to say,
I thought of you a thousand times a day.
I tried to shoulder more of the load,
To lead your life down a smoother road.
So finally, to say the very least,
I find myself at total peace.
Please kiss my grandchildren every night,
Tell them I loved them with all my might.
Love Dad

  • I too met Bruce while working a Odeon Morton Theatres, a lifetime ago. Some nights after work we would go back to Bruce’s house where Marcy would be cooking up a fabulous meal. We played games and had some great laughs. Good times that I will remember forever. My sincere condolences to Marcia, Blair, Jason and family. - Posted by: Judy Hunt (Friend and Co-worker) on: Mar 12, 2022

  • I first met Bruce while working at the Odeon-Morton Theatres. From there began a lifelong friendship. Bruce was my golf mentor. He patiently spent the time with me on the driving range and soon I was included on the Sunday morning rounds at John Blumberg. We had so many games where we had tears rolling off our cheeks from laughing so much. Marcia, Deb and I extend our deepest sympathies to you and the boys. Such a wonderful man, husband and friend. - Posted by: Grant McLaren (Friend and former co-worker) on: Mar 12, 2022
