JEANNE MABON
January 1, 1933 March 11, 2022
Peacefully, with her family by her side, Jeanne Mabon (née Lamoureux) passed away at Actionmarguerite Care Centre in St. Vital, Manitoba on March 11, 2022. She was 89 years of age.
Jeanne was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Georges Mabon; parents, Napoléon Lamoureux, and Rita (née Lafrenière); brother Marcel; and her grandson Myles Mabon.
Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Cécile (John) and Dennis; her six children, Gisèle (Garry), Jacqueline (Gérald), Johanne (Bill), Gilbert (Laurie), Dr. Lorraine (Dwayne), and Dr. Michèle; grandchildren, Genevieve (Ryan), Daniel, Joël (Laurie), Mychèle (Jonathan), Josée, Samuel, Elizabeth, Rachelle (Riley), Jacqueline, and Paul; as well as great-grandchildren, Ronan, Krista, Elise, and Palmer.
Jeanne was born in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba. After completing high school, she entered the St. Boniface School of Nursing and following graduation, spent a year nursing in New York City. She truly enjoyed the city's vibrant culture and attended many musicals, operas, and plays with her nursing colleague, Jeannette Palud.
Drawn back home to Georges, the love of her life, Jeanne dedicated her life to raising six children and supporting his busy medical practice. She created a home full of love, laughter, music, and delicious cooking. Top of mind after every school year was making preparations for the annual summer holiday in a station wagon pulling a trailer. Jeanne excelled as a co-pilot reading the maps and guiding Georges the driver to the proper highway exits from coast to coast throughout North America. What discussions!
Jeanne was very involved in the Somerset community. With others, she advocated for the formation of the community concert band and participated in the plant fundraiser for improving seniors' services. There were many other smaller projects which she was involved with that brought her great joy.
When the children grew up and left the home, Jeanne updated her nursing skills and returned to work at Foyer Notre Dame. As a registered nurse, she enjoyed caring for and helping older patients live the end of their lives comfortably and with dignity. Jeanne and Georges also enjoyed travelling to Tucson, Winnipeg, Kenora, Vancouver, Calgary, Skookumchuck, and Montréal to visit all their children and grandchildren. So many good memories and fun times.
In her senior years, Jeanne's health took a turn, which required the very same support and love she had offered while working. The family is grateful for the kindness and care from all the health care workers who assisted her at home in Somerset, at Lorne Memorial Hospital in Swan Lake, and at Actionmarguerite in Winnipeg.
Cremation has taken place. A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later time when all can safely gather. In the meantime, Jeanne's family kindly requests that her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by visiting her tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography, as well as memories and stories published by those who knew her, are available there.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to Mme Jeanne's family members, and especially to Johanne who was my elementary and high school classmate. I have nice memories of mother Jeanne who always welcomed me with gentleness and a smile. I remember once being invited to Johanne's birthday party which had joyful and interesting activities for all of her invited friends, thanks to Mom's creativity! Be assured of my prayer support for the loss of such a special person. - Posted by: Nita Ostrowski (friend) on: Apr 27, 2022

Your maman et papa were very good friends of my parents, Germaine & Léon Pineau of Ste. Rose du Lac. I remember Dr. Mabon and his lovely wife, Jeanne when they moved to Ste. Rose to practice. They lived next door to us and I was so enchanted when the first child came along. I still have photos of the little one...we used to stop in Somerset to visit...my condolences to you children and your families. This was a very special couple...I retain many good memories of the four of them, their laughter, good times and friendship. Your mother was always an example of "a maman, douce et bonne"... - Posted by: Suzanne Tkach (friend) on: Mar 21, 2022
