TERESA RAPOSA VIVEIROS
(nee REIS)
November 7, 1947 April 1, 2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce Teresa's passing after an almost 20-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Affectionately known as "Teresena", beloved spouse of Gilbert for 52 years, Teresa was born November 7, 1947, on Sao Miguel, Açores. She met Gilbert when she was just six years old, attended school until grade 4, helped out dutifully with household chores, and worked in a tobacco factory. In 1967, she immigrated to Canada, landing a job on a farm in Orangeville. In 1970, Teresa and Gilbert celebrated the birth of their first son Christopher, followed by Billy in 1976.
Left to mourn her are children, Chris (Karen and grandkids, Casera and William) and Billy (Crystal); as well as siblings: Maria (Jaime), José (Venilde), Joao (Laura), Margarida (Julio), Antero (Rosa), Joaquin (Judite), Raul (Ruth) and Oliver (Lynda). Teresa was predeceased by her parents, Gilda and José Reis, and leaves behind nieces and nephews, cousins, and brothers/sisters-in-law in Manitoba, Ontario, and Massachusetts, as well as treasured friends, especially Otillia Cipriano, for whom we are forever grateful.
Although we will miss her terribly, Teresa suffered, and no one should suffer for as long nor as deeply as she did. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or CancerCare Foundation Manitoba, as she also defeated breast cancer in her last years of life.
Service to be held Friday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m., Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with reception to follow. Private interment at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave.
Rest in peace Teresa you are free.
