I was so sorry to hear this sad news. I worked with Dave many years ago in the Victim Service Unit, a position he was well suited for. We had many good times there with the group of volunteers at the time, while doing the difficult work of providing victim services. Dave was always kind, compassionate and helpful. I was so sorry to hear of his loss. Marcie, please accept my sincere condolences on your immeasurable loss. I'm thinking of you as we all honour Dave's treasured life. - Posted by: Yvonne Pregely Sarzynski (Former co-worker) on: Sep 14, 2022

Heartfelt thoughts to David's family & friends. Such a busy, wonderful life he enjoyed with you all. So saddened when Frances passed away years ago and thought of those she left behind. Had wondered over the years how the family she left behind was doing. This is very touching. May your many memories bring you comfort during this sad time. - Posted by: Lynn Checkley (Patient of Dr FM) on: Sep 11, 2022

Marcie, we wish you love and comfort during this difficult time. Ron and I had just been talking about Dave's skilled and talented carpentry work in our house. He was a delight to talk with and I know my Dad misses him immensely. We are so sorry for this great loss. - Posted by: Christine Shier and Ron Smith (Friends ) on: Sep 06, 2022

Sending my deepest sympathy to you Marcie at this sad time. I will always remember David’s smile & jokes. I'm remembering all our wonderful times together in Winnipeg, Kelowna and Thousand Palms. I especially remember his support and kindness to me last summer when I lost Kerry. So many lovely videos and pictures I wouldn’t have if he hadn’t sent them. Remember I am only a phone call away. Sending hugs. - Posted by: Eleeta Armit (Friend) on: Aug 26, 2022

It was a shock to learn of Dave's death. I haven't seen him in over 40 years but I remember him well and would agree with the sentiments expressed in other tributes that he was a kind and gentle man. I remember all 24 of our classmates back in 1980 having nicknames and his was Tennessee Tuxedo... not sure why but perhaps it was because he had mannerisms like that long ago cartoon character. I remember Dave to have a very calm and comforting presence with a real sense of of being genuine. Although I left the Winnipeg Police many years ago, I remember hearing nothing but positive about Dave from members with whom I stayed in touch. I offer my sincere condolences to the Lyons family in the loss of Dave. Remember your happier days and take solace now that he is truly at peace. God Bless. - Posted by: Bill Head (Winnipeg Police Recruit Class #97 Mate) on: Aug 24, 2022

Sincere condolences from the Koizumi's to you all, It was a mere few hours ago that I rec'd a call from my brother Tom (1 of 6 bros and 2 sisters who grew up kitty corner to the Lyons home). We had the best times growing up together and so close by, we went to each others home and played with toys, we went to both schools together, we treated our homes and inhabitants as family and a funny families we were. The greatest experience Dave and 3 or 4 friends had was hanging out at Casey's Texaco one summer night and being visited by a really large UFO yep without a lie and after many decades possibly one of the last times I spoke to David he confirmed (as a retired police officer) we shared this un-real life experience together. In closing again to all the families, our sincerest Condolences, Our memories of him and Emerson are so special, all our best Wishes always! Words can not express how saddened we are of Dave's untimely passing; and of what you are going through, Marcie. Our corner of the cove goes beyond friendly neighbors but a caring family that are there for each other. Memories of all our happier-time get-togethers with Dave and you will always be fondly remembered. We are only a few steps away for help or a shoulder to lean on in the days to come. Deepest sympathy, Gary, Carol and family - Posted by: Gary and Carol Swyston (Friends / neighbors ) on: Aug 20, 2022
