DOROTHY EVANCIO

Dorothy Evancio (née Nesselbeck) of Winnipeg, formerly of Saskatoon, died on June 16, 2022, at the age of 90.
Dorothy is survived by her son Charles (Jamie) and grandchildren, Julia and Benjamin; daughter Tanya (Duncan), and son Gregory (Holly). She is also survived by her sisters, Ellen, Esther, Marlyn (Keith), Luisa and Cathy; sisters-in-law, Meda and Betty; and many nieces and nephews in the Evancio and Nesselbeck families. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Jerry Evancio; parents, Ernestine and Reynold Nesselbeck; sister Dolores and brothers, Conrad, Donald, Richard and Erwin.
Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Dorothy obtained her Registered Nurse qualification at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon. She also completed advanced piano studies, with Distinction, at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Dorothy's married life began in Saskatoon and took her to France, various cities in Ontario, and Winnipeg. After the death of her husband Jerry, Dorothy resided for many years in Saskatoon and returned to Winnipeg in her final years. In her retirement, her travels took her west to Vancouver Island, across the Prairies, east to Toronto, and overseas to Italy and France. She enjoyed time with family and friends, and her love of classical music continued throughout her life. Dorothy was elegant, adventurous, and happiest when setting out on her frequent long walks.
The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care Dorothy received at Misericordia Place in Winnipeg.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m., St. Mary's Catholic Church, 10 River Heights Drive, Cochrane, AB T4C 0N8.
Dorothy's final resting place will be with her husband Jerry in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
