JOHN VEERT
We sadly announce the passing of our beloved John on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at the age of 63.
He is survived by his partner Carol Parkinson, who held his hand as he passed away peacefully in his sleep. John is survived by his three children, Vanessa, Christina (Ian), and Frank (Alana), and his three precious grandchildren, Olivia, Levi and Oaklan. The mother of his children, Kathleen Einarsson also survives John. John was also close to Carol's three children, Sadie, Matthew and Hannah. John is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth Veert and his three sisters, Valerie (Ed Sigurdsson), Sandra (Gord Cole) and Angela (Mike Gottfred).
John was predeceased by his father, Frank Veert in 2000.
John's adventures on this earth began on August 15, 1959. He attended school in Winnipeg and Selkirk, Manitoba. John began working at a young age in various roles and found his passion in sales. He spent his early career in car sales, eventually moving to Rothmans in a sales position. His role at Rothmans led him to Vancouver, BC from 1985 to 1989 into various management positions. In late 1989, John moved back to Manitoba, settling his family in Emerson, taking on the role as General Manager of the Emerson Duty Free. Emerson became the hometown of his three children. As busy as John was with his career, he always loved attending his kids' sporting events and planning family vacations. In late 2003, John moved back to Winnipeg working for Rothmans, later re-entering the car business, and finishing his career as an automotive service advisor at Canadian Tire. He took pride in the many lasting friendships he made with both colleagues and customers throughout his life.
John had a meaningful impact on a lot of people and was known for his energetic and exuberant outlook on life. John had a great sense of humour and was a wonderful storyteller.
Throughout John's entire life, he had a passion for cars and car racing. He also loved travelling to new places and being surrounded by family. John was a very thoughtful person, devoted son, a proud father and a proud grandfather.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to relatives and friends for the visits, kind messages and condolences. The family would like to make a special thank you to all the great staff on the 8th floor at St. Boniface Hospital who made sure John was always comfortable and cared for. We would also like to express their sincere thanks to Fr. Dymtro Dnistrian from St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church for his visits to John.
Funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.

John was the kind of guy that once met was always a friend. My family goes back to his days with RBH when he was in the Duty Free division. We become good friends and then when he move out to BC, great friends. He always had a story, always made you laugh, and more often than not made you shake your head and hang on for the ride. He could make the dullest day shine. I wish we had stayed closer over the last years, but I will always be thankful for those that we got to spend together. The good times were wonderful and the memories will last forever. Whenever I think about him a smile always comes with the thoughts. Our sincere condolences to the family. Hugs to all of you. I was sad to read about John's passing. I am sending my deepest condolences to the Veert family. The fun times spent at Lord Nelson, College Avenue, and Boyd Park with the Veert family are etched in my memory. Johnny and I played with the neighborhood boys, the Veert girls were always very nice to me. Mr Veert sold my Dad a few cars and my husband & I bought our first car from him. Even after both families moved away from College & McPhillips we still kept in touch. My last contact was when Mrs. Veert came to my Moms funeral 11 years ago. Thank you for the wonderful memories. - Posted by: Debbie Mryglod (Childhood friend ) on: Oct 22, 2022
