DEBBIE SHIELDS
March 16, 1951 – October 20, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce that on October 20, 2022, Debbie lost a short but valiant battle with cancer.
She is leaving behind her husband Jim and son Jason, whom she was so proud of, and many friends and relatives whose hearts she dearly touched.
Born in Selkirk, Manitoba, Debbie spent the first 16 years of her life as a farm girl. As the youngest daughter in the family, Debbie's life was filled with much excitement and adventure. With four sisters and one brother, it was never a dull moment. Nevertheless, it was not all fun and games; Debbie was also skilled in many professions, including the transportation industry, publishing, property management, and legal services. She even started her own cleaning company with her sister Cindy!
She leaves many beautiful memories for her loved ones, particularly summers at Victoria Beach, family trips to Kenora and Brandon, and her adventure to the 1988 Calgary Olympics.
Debbie was incredibly loved and will be missed dearly by many. She will always be remembered for her kindness and incredible sense of humour.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society. We will beat this thing called cancer.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My sincere condolences to Jim and Jason and to all of Debbie's family. Debbie and I had many phone conversations over the past few years usually about Parkinsons but also about family history. She had a wonderful sense of humour and I will miss talking with her. My husband has Parkinsons also and I hope in some small way I was able to help her on some of the difficult days. Sincerely, Karen and Joe - Posted by: Karen Lesjak (Cousin) on: Nov 24, 2022

  • So sorry to hear that Debbie has passed away. She was the office Manager at Cottrell Transport were we both worked. She was a very kind and respected person in this company. I worked in the office doing a few different clerical work and my husband was a truck driver and shop steward till the company was bought by Clarke Transport. - Posted by: Rick & Ghislaine Lambert (Business aquaintences) on: Nov 05, 2022
