Sending my love to Rudi, Mykola (and family), Sasha, and Lydia's mom. I had the enormous privilege to work with Lydia for over 20 years, as we co-created and sustained an ongoing and flourishing partnership between the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Education and Seven Oaks School Division (what Lydia called the "North End University of Manitoba"). During this time, I came to witness and admire Lydia's wisdom, scholarship, generosity, kindness, creativity, and determination. She was a tireless fighter for the equitable, just, and caring treatment of each and every one of us (child and adult alike). The two of us, and our families, became close friends. We will miss her enormously! - Posted by: Wayne Serebrin (Friend and Colleague) on: Apr 09, 2023

What an inspiring, powerful, brilliant, dedicated, authentic, admirable woman we were all so blessed to work with at Seven Oaks School Division. For me, Lydia was a mentor, role model, and a friend who I knew would always be real, supportive, open and look me straight in the eye. Lydia was just so full of class, so creative and truly kind, and will be so greatly missed. I’m so, so sad that I won’t get to sit with her and share stories again, and I’m sending the deepest sympathies to Rudy and her family for this great loss. May the memory of Lydia live on in all of our hearts, and may she rest in peace. - Posted by: Carrie Lundy (Friend and colleague ) on: Apr 07, 2023

Lydia meant a great deal to many of us in Seven Oaks School Division, and we are very sad to hear of her untimely passing. She was very dear to the music educators, whom she made to feel very cherished and important, even being so kind as to opening up her home every September to invite all the music staff over to dinner. Many arts initiatives that exist in Seven Oaks, such as Arts in the Park and the Sistema Program are because of Lydia. She had a huge heart, and "inspired us to dream big dreams", as one colleague so aptly put, as we reminisced about her this week. She will be deeply missed by all of us, and always thought of fondly, and with great love and admiration. - Posted by: Melanie Mahir (Friend and colleague) on: Apr 02, 2023

Deep sadness overwhelmed me upon hearing of Lydia's passing. How does one pay tribute to such an amazing woman? Lydia was one of those special people who influenced my life with her positive encouragement and was a true friend when I was experiencing some difficult times. She never hesitated to help and encourage others. With every decision she made in Seven Oaks School Division, the concern for the students was always a priority. Lydia will be missed by everyone whose life she touched. Deepest condolences to Rüdi, Mykola, dearest Sasha (who stole my heart when he was only 4) and those who loved her. R.I.P Dear Lydia. You will never be forgotten. - Posted by: Renée Harsant (Friend) on: Apr 01, 2023
