It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Hoffman.
Larry was born in Kingston, Ontario and moved with his family to Winnipeg in his early years.
Larry is survived by his wife Bonnie (née Gislason); sons, Thor and Eric; daughters-in-law, Harmoni and Chandra; grandchildren, Keyra, Alaina and Lily; and his sisters, Mary and Cindy. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and Frank; and his sister Joan.
Larry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, educator, and friend who had a keen sense of humour. He was a self-taught builder, who built not only their first home but also their cottage in Steep Rock. Larry valued his deep connections to family and to nature, especially to Steep Rock and Granite Lake, ON. Larry particularly enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters; canoeing, creating plays, exploring, and watching their concerts or sporting events.
He will be sadly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Manitoba Prostate Cancer Support Group at Box 315 - 971 Corydon Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3M 3S7 or online at www.manpros.org.

My grandpa was an kind, funny, and very generous person he was always my number one supporter in everything. When I was a kid no one wanted to play with me or go to the pool or do anything with me but the one person who always wanted to was him, my grandpa is easily my best-friend I have so many amazing memories I will cherish with him especially at our cabin. I am so grateful that I had a grandpa as incredible as him to take care of me my whole life ❤️ - Posted by: Lily (Granddaughter ) on: Apr 08, 2023

We are heartbroken that our shared beautiful granddaughters have lost their grandpa too prematurely 😢💔. We have always enjoyed the visits the “glams” made to Alberta to celebrate birthdays in the spring and Thanksgivings in the fall over the last 20 years! Larry was always curious about Wes’s activities on the farm. We will also miss those personalized Christmas cards with his hand drawn cartoons! 💙💙💙 - Posted by: Shirley & Wes Swainson (Thor’s in-laws ) on: Apr 08, 2023

The Hoffman family were our neighbours on Hector Bay W. I remember him as much older, (2 years), flaming red hair, and a going concern. Then a few years later at the faculty of education, turned out to be a great teacher. Joan, his sister, was in our wedding party. Ben thought our paths didn’t cross, I still remember him. My deepest condolences to his wife and children, and to Mary and Cindy and their families. - Posted by: Trucia Howard (Wilson) (Former neighbour) on: Apr 08, 2023

Mr. Hoffman was my Chemistry teacher at St Boniface Diocesan High School in 1968. I have fond memories of our “cool” teacher. My prayers go out to the family. - Posted by: Bergeron Glen (Former student ) on: Apr 08, 2023
