Grant Vandervis (son of Cornelius and Jeanette, brother to David, husband to Heather, and one LUCKY father to Taylor and Jesse Taron Vandervis) passed away on April 2, 2023, from an uppercut from Batman as he tried to steal Grant’s car as he was apparently in need of a new Batmobile.
He leaves behind a legacy of big smiles, bad Dad jokes, a fridge full of Bud Light and passion for his friends, family and most importantly his dog.
Born June 27, 1961, he was known for his love of riding his motorcycle, tinkering in his garage, cleaning his car (his true one and only) and dropping everything to come rescue his dramatic children whenever they were in need. He was a social butterfly, could bust a move at any occasion, sing to a perfect pitch (as he thought), but most of all he was a hard worker. His hard work allowed him to retire at the young age of 51. Grant enjoyed every minute of his retirement, living every day with a positive attitude, a smile on his face and love in his heart.
Grant was never shy about telling people how he felt. He was an open-minded man and loved to joke. But as with everyone he did have some regrets, like not getting a pedicure sooner in life, or never getting over the fear of spiders.
As there is so much to write about Grant because he was such an amazing father, husband, brother, friend, uncle etc., we would like to invite anyone to his Celebration of Life on Saturday April 15, 2023, at the Pandora Bar in Transcona starting at 14:00. Come and share stories and positive memories. Only smiles and happy tears will be accepted.

My condolences to Grants family. I had worked with Grant for the city for many years in the refuse department. As well as playing sponge hockey with Grant and a few of our other buddies from our Department at work. Again I’m sending my condolences to his family and friends. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Grant was his infectious laugh. He would always have a smile on his face & was a joy to be around. I met Grant when we were teenagers & shared many of good times together. Although I haven’t seen him for many years, he always remained in my mind & put a smile on my face when I would reminisce of those teenage years. My condolences to all. I went to school and played hockey with Grant from grade 7 into our late teens and early 20’s, many many great memories of good times and lots of laughs. It’s been 40 years but it seems like yesterday. Grant was the best of teammates and friends, I can only imagine how great a husband and father he must have become. Grant, You are the first of the cousin generation to seek a new adventure where the grass is greener, the sun shines brighter and worries are few if any. In our younger day, we were able to get into mischief when your guys came to the farm for a visit in Lundar. Say hi to your Dad & Mom (Uncle Connie & Aunt Jeanette) for me.
