DANIEL MICHAEL SMELA
It is with sadness, we are announcing the sudden death of our son Daniel, at the young age of 35.
Daniel will be missed by his parents, Dorothy and Dennis; his sons, Xander and Silas. His bio-siblings, Charity, Josh, Jesse and friend Aurora.
Daniel was easy to like. And he was easy to love. From his youth, he blended well with many of his friends and family. As he grew in maturity, he took an interest in construction. Through the years, he rose to the height of a supervisor with Concord Projects in Winnipeg.
Daniel's life was, in many ways, very exciting. He had a natural disposition to being photogenic and happy to be around. As a youth, he was very competitive in soccer in the Stonewall area. He learnt quickly how to snow board around here and out west. He took music, learning the guitar and enjoyed drawing. He attended many Bible Camps in the summertime. He also attended Faith Bible School where he learnt more about his faith in Christ. He finished his high school in Stonewall, MB.
Later on, Daniel started his family. He had two sons and managed a great career in construction. He was credited with letters from project managers, architect and ownership groups.
There will not be a moment that won't pass by when we see and know what he gained and had unfettered access to projects that started out as a steel stud and drywall guy through his cousin Jason. This led him to becoming a supervisor on a great many projects in the exchange district and downtown area projects, to major corporate and housing projects in Sage Creek and Bridgewater locations. He was the envy of many well-educated students in construction circles that could only dream of obtaining his experiences. To him, it was it was just another day at the office. An amazing and remarkable feat.
We will miss you son. We love you. It's just so sad to see you go soon.
Love your Mom and Dad, your family, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held in Stonewall New Life Church on Hwy 67 at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
All are welcome to come and join in.
