MARION MOIST
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Marion Moist, on April 29, 2023. Marion passed peacefully with her family at her side after a four-and-one-half year battle with ovarian cancer.
Marion was born in Bellshill, Scotland, on September 16, 1954. She moved to Canada in 1975 and enjoyed a 38-year career at Manitoba Health.
Marion was predeceased by her mother, Isobel Dunsmore in 1994; twin brother Jack in 2005; parents-in-law, Lloyd and Mae Moist in 2012.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Paul Moist; daughter Kelly; twin grandsons, Aiden and Lucas; son Scott (Jacqui); brother Craig (Elaine) of Lanark, Scotland; and her many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Marion lived life to the fullest. She was a loving wife and mother. She was active in the community, in her union and in numerous volunteer roles. She was full of compassion and helped many friends through personal and life challenges. She loved to travel with her close friends, the “Golden Girls”. She was constantly in motion and full of smiles. She loved all her dogs that the family cherished over the past 40 years. For Marion, life was about the journey. It was about supporting and loving her family, and her many close friends. She touched all who met her. She leaves a legacy of living life well, always placing the needs of others ahead of her own. May she rest peacefully, reunited with all her loved ones who predeceased her.
We offer heartfelt thanks to the entire team at CancerCare Manitoba and the Downtown West Homecare Nursing group, for both their professional service and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 at the Unitarian Church, 603 Wellington Crescent. Flowers gratefully declined.
Donations in Marion’s memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Marion’s family kindly requests that you visit her tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography as well as memories and stories published by those who knew her are available there.

I really appreciate the amount of love, care and support Marion gave Paul as his help mate when he was President of CUPE. Spouses/partners of our leaders must endure a madcap life that often goes unnoticed nor appreciated. I know that Paul was cognizant of that dilemma and did his best to mention the support of Marion often and with great respect for her abilities. I know she will be missed by her entire family but also by her sisters and brothers in the entire Canadian Labour Movement. - Posted by: Barbara Moore (CUPE Retiree) on: May 07, 2023

Her family came first in everything and her love and compassion showed when she spoke of any loved one. She loved an adventure, travelling, and a good meal. There was always something to talk about, never a dull moment, and always a good chuckle. I will truly miss our conversations❤️May you rest in peace my dear friend. - Posted by: Deborah Slobogian-Jones (Friend) on: May 06, 2023

Paul an extended family I was saddened to hear of Marion's passing. Although my initial meeting was with Paul I had the honour to work with her for the United Way Campaign where her tireless efforts to raise money did not go unnoticed. Yearly I would see her at CUPE Local 500 Honourary Life dinner where our chats with her never seemed like we didn't see each other for a year. She was a wonderful wife mother and proud grandmother who loved adventure and to travel with her girlfriends. Please know my thoughts are with you all during this difficult time. - Posted by: Barbara Verschoore (Maughan) (Friend of family) on: May 06, 2023
