HILDA EPP
Hilda passed away peacefully on June 13, 2023 at Riverview Health Centre. She was 96 years old.
Hilda was born in a Mennonite village in South Russia, now Ukraine. She spent some years in Germany and immigrated to Canada in the fall of 1948. She moved to Winnipeg where she married Henry Epp. She trained as a nurse and worked in the old Grace Hospital and later at Bethania Personal Care Home.
The memorial service will be held at Concordia Village, Sunday, June 18 at 12:00 noon. Reception to follow.

I met Hilda EPP at Bethany’s Personal Care Home while seeing another patient on one of the wards at the home. This occurred in the early 80’s. Sometime later, Hilda became one of my patients at Concordia Dental Office. Hilda was a wonderful individual. She cared for her immediate family and others. She, I suspect was a hard worker and whatever hardships she had endured in her lifetime, did not make her a bitter person, but a better one. I see Hilda as a person who would see any job and without any complaining, would just go ahead and do it. The last time that we spoke on the phone was I believe two years ago. We said our good byes and that ended our conversation. A year later, August 26, 2022 I listened to a recorded birthday greeting, the day of my birthday. Oh how sweet of Hilda to remember and call. On September 25, 2023, I called and there was no one to pick up the phone. Now, today, I know why. My condolences to Hilda’s children. I feel the sadness of her passing. I am so thankful for having gotten to know Mrs. EPP (as I would call her). I am encouraged by her, to be also, a nice person and keep looking up. The best is yet to come! My family and I would like to send our deepest condolences to Hilda Epp's family on her passing. Hilda's late husband Henry Epp was my father's cousin. We live in Ottawa but we would visit Hilda whenever we were in Winnipeg and we always greatly enjoyed our time together. Hilda was a wonderful and wise person. We are greatly saddened that we will not be able to see her again. If her family wishes to communicate with us, we can be reached at 613-721-5894.
