On July 5, 2023, Doug passed away peacefully at Golden Links Lodge at the age of 81.
Doug was predeceased by his sister Dolly and brother Norman. Doug leaves to mourn his wife Paulette (Dubuc); sisters-in-law, Lillian, Pauline, Betty and Irene as well as his nieces and nephews.
Doug was employed by Manitoba Hydro for over 25 years as an Electrician Technologist. Doug's favourite time was sailing Lake Winnipeg on Valkyrie, the 32-foot sailboat he built and loved.
Doug will be missed by his family and friends. A private gathering will be held at a later date.
Thanks to all the nurses, nursing assistants, and doctors at Golden Links Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.

On this day January 7, 2024, I looked through my things on my son's desk and started looking at a Holy Bible, two years ago I searched the internet and didn't find anything about Douglas Sparks, I found close names and sent messages, but no return, today I looked for your name and unfortunately double the sad news, I bought the Valkyrie sailboat 2 years ago, and I confess that I tried to find your old one through research, I have your things on the boat and I would like to return them, the boat It's beautiful and knowing that Doug did it made me very happy, my condolences to the family, if you could get in touch 2043300302 - Posted by: Delcio Alves Castro Pereira (Friend) on: Jan 07, 2024

Doug was a lifelong friend who met my husband in junior high while working at a drug store. Their love of music, cars and the joy of life cemented their relationship. So many memories of jam sessions at our place when we couldn't easily get out b/c of kids; of Doug's instilling a love in electronics in our son; of him wiring of basement. Good bye dear friend. I met Doug and Norm (Dwight) back in the 1960s when they had their infamous band .. The Road Agents.. Spent time listening to the music. Lost touch over the years.
