Madeline was my mother's best friend. They met in 1975. She helped my mom learn to sew, and they made my first frilly dress for school pictures when I was four years old. She helped make my first pow wow outfit and came to watch me dance. When I was 12, she hired my cousin and I to do yard work and paint her fence so we would know what it felt like to get paid for a hard day's work. She gave me piano lessons and I have countless memories of sitting and playing with her nesting dolls while she and my mother visited. When I started University, it was Madeline who came with my mother to registration day and supported me while I panicked over that first day. Madeline was a gift from Creator to us, a blessing in our lives and I will treasure every memory. - Posted by: Cheyenne Chartrand (Mom's best friend) on: Jul 20, 2023
