It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on July 15, 2023.
She will be deeply missed by her husband Dennis; daughter Betty Munro (Cam); son Ken (Sharon); son Leonard; grandchildren, Angie (Adam Janssens), Jeff (Amanda), Ashley (Ben Elskamp), Kaleigh (Mark Oliver) and Steven (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Abby, Natileigh, Jake, Liam, Arianna, Carver, Austin, Burke, Ryleigh, Rhett and Ella. She is also survived by her brothers, John Magas (Trudy) and Bill Magas (Lorraine); sister Darlene Racz and sisters-in-law, Pat Blair and Gwen Kitching; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Olga was born on February 23, 1935 in Oak Hammock, MB to Michael and Pauline Magas. She and her family moved to their farm at Stony Mountain when she was 13 years old. She worked on the family farm until she met the love of her life, Dennis Mulligan, at a barn dance at their farm. They married on August 10, 1955 and farmed in Rosser until they retired and sold the farm to their son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Sharon. While living in Rosser, she worked at the local store and even after retirement took employment with the Winnipeg School Board to fill her days. She loved to bowl, play bingo, go fishing and travel, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Pallbearers will be Jeff Mulligan, Adam Janssens, Ben Elskamp, Mark Oliver, Rick Hogg and Bob Molter. Honourary pallbearers are Olga’s great-grandchildren, Abby, Natileigh, Jake, Liam, Arianna, Carver, Austin, Burke, Ryleigh, Rhett and Ella.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Rosewood Lodge, Teulon and Arborg Hospitals, for their kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or The Winnipeg Humane Society.
