MAVIS MARGARET MAY
With grateful sadness, the family announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother in the early months of her 102nd year. It is sad to say goodbye to our “Nana”, but we are grateful for her long life and good health, allowing her to be an engaging part of all our lives until the end.
Mavis was born in Calgary, the eldest child of Alice McGuire and Russell Lebeau. Her family lived briefly in Calgary and Regina before moving to Winnipeg where she married and raised a family of five children. She was actively involved in her church and family activities throughout much of her long life. Mavis possessed a wonderful sense of humour and the patient wisdom that can only come with the many joys and sorrows of a long life. Her pastimes included needlework, preparing delicious family meals, and watching her favourite sports - curling, baseball, and football. She also loved the performing arts – Winnipeg Symphony and Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
Mavis is survived by her children, Russ (Lindsey and Lori), Doug (Kathie), and Laura (Paul); daughter-in-law Barbara; six grandchildren, Lisa (Kensley), Chris, Chelsea (Blaine), Gord (Megan), Kiirsten (Jason), and Ben (Quinn); and three great-grandchildren, Mason, Kaeli, and Ember.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Gordon; two much-loved children, Jeff and Donna; and one grandchild, Nathan.
There will be a private graveside service to be arranged.
