Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDRICK WILLIAM ODGER
Fred has left us to be with his beloved wife, Judy and their son Ken.
Fred will always be loved by his son, Keith (wife Kim) and his daughter-in-law Deanna. Fred also leaves behind his sisters, Barbara, Donna and Lorenna.
35 years ago, Fred’s biggest role in life began as "Papa". His grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brittany, Matthew, Jesse, Jude and Wyatt provided Papa with a whirlwind of love and activities.
Fred will be remembered for his outgoing personality (who else could pull off a black cowboy hat at church). His regular rounds included the Kildonan Golf Course, the local Sobeys, CIBC, Springs Church and his friend, barber Jim.
One of Fred’s earlier haunts was Orioles Community Club where he coached baseball, weightlifting, boxing and overall supervision that kept the monkeys from getting into too much trouble. Many of them still ask about him today.
Fred enjoyed travel, golf, bowling and feeding the ducks at Kildonan Park. He also followed his favorite sport teams regularly cheering on the Jays, Bombers, Jet’s, and the Vikings from his favorite chair.
Special thanks to Barb, Michelle, Pastor Jeff, Britt, Matt, Kim and all the family and friends that shared time with Papa during his illness. Extended "Thank You" to the great people at Health Sciences Centre (Owl Wing floors 6 and 7). There was always respect and kindness provided with Papa’s care.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Fred’s memory to a charity of your choice.
