It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear Peter Hamilton Smith.
Pete grew up in and around Vancouver with his predeceased parents, Alfred and Sadie Smith. He moved to Winnipeg in the early 70s. He worked at MacDon Industries for 27 years as a truck driver, until he retired in 2001. His love of Harley Davidson grew very strong from a young age. He loved riding. As well he cherished his time at the Wellness Institute where he met very good friends.
He leaves behind his best and cherished friend, Eileen Barker, and their fur baby Bella. He also leaves behind daughter-in-law Laura Davies; grandchildren, Brittany, Meaghan (Christian), and Troy; great-grandchildren, Nico and Zaiden; previous wife and good friend, Marilyn (Danny) Alspaugh; his daughters, Pamela and Yvonne; son Rob (Johanna) Mauro, and grandchildren, Jason, Jordan, Ava, Victoria, and Katlyn in BC.
The family would like to sincerely thank 3 South at the Grace Hospital for their compassionate care over the last few months. Especially Dr. Joshua, Dr. George, and charge nurse Isabeau Llorente. Also grateful for his friends, George (Allison) Swain, Barb (Dan) Jenkins, John (Chris) Duffy, and Carl Stevens, and his amazing neighbours, Joel Sangil and Sheryle Garant, for their support and care.
Honouring Pete’s wishes, no formal service will take place.
If friends so desire, a donation in Pete’s name can be made to a charity of their choice would be greatly appreciated.
He will be missed and cherished in our hearts forever.
Peter’s family requests that you visit his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography as well as memories and stories published by those who knew him are available there.

My condolences to Peters family and to Eileen. Peter and I were neighbours for over 36 years. He was a kind soul. Peter loved dogs. Over the years Peter had many dogs. As one fur baby would pass he would get another as he couldn’t bear being without a dog. He loved them all and took very good care of all of them. If you believe in God then you must believe in Rainbow Bridge. I can just imagine the joy on Peters face as all his beloved dogs came to greet him at Rainbow Bridge. Rest in Peace Peter. And yes you deserve to be in heaven. See you on the other side. Your neighbour Sheryle - Posted by: Sheryle Garant (Next door neighbours) on: Sep 16, 2023

I met Pete at the Wellness Institute and we would talk now and then on how we must do this workout thing to keep us going in life. He seemed to be a kind hearted great guy. He will be missed as one of the regulars at the Wellness. Rest in Peace BIG FELLA. - Posted by: Walter Mazepa (Acquaintance ) on: Sep 16, 2023
