Audrey Skaftfeld passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre on September 2, 2023, at 94 years of age.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Marvin; sisters, Nancy Briggs (Fred), Peggy Mitchell (Jim), and Evie Stenson (Ted); brother Ken White (Patricia); and son-in-law Lloyd Garner. She is survived by her son Ken Skaftfeld (Johanna), and children, Erika (Joel) and Jon (Michelle); daughter Heather (Ken), and children, Erin (Matt) and Michael (Jamie); great-grandchildren, Kyla, Signy, Willow, and Charlotte; and her sister Chris Wilkinson (Ron). She will also be forever remembered by nieces and nephews and their families across western Canada.
Mom was born near Roblin, Manitoba in the RM of Shell River, daughter of Lawrence and Alice White – and yes, she did walk miles through snowdrifts (uphill) to get to school! She moved with her family to Brandon, Manitoba, and then on her own to Winnipeg where she worked as a cashier at Eaton’s Department Store on Portage Avenue. She soon met the love of her life Marvin, and they were married in June 1952, moving to Kirkfield Park where they raised their family. It was in this neighbourhood where mom and dad made so many wonderful friends and long-lasting relationships. Square dancing with the Whirlaway Westerners’ was their passion and now they can Allemande Left together once again. Mom was a hardworking woman, dedicated mother, Amma, and Langamma, cook/baker extraordinaire, and dad’s dedicated bookkeeper for all of his years as a General Contractor. Her family and friends will all miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre, CD4, for the wonderful care they provided for mom, showing care and compassion right to the end of her life. We will be forever grateful.
Audrey’s family requests that you visit her tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. In accordance with mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
