Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I had the chance to meet him once for boarding games with Geoff and some friends. I remember his kindness and smile throughout the night. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: José Anicio (Friend) on: Oct 03, 2023

  • I only had the pleasure of meeting Kerry once, and only recently. He struck me as a very pleasant and hospitable man who welcomed my friend and I into his home with open arms for a lovely afternoon. It is with sadness that I heard about his untimely passing as I am sure he has touched many, many people over the years with his kindness. Rest in peace and God’s loving tenderness, Kerry. - Posted by: David Rakowski (Family friend) on: Sep 30, 2023

  • I just like to say about Carrie. He was an awesome guy. Caring always thought about others. Family was huge for him. Always made a point of visiting when he came to town and asking about everybody. I love our talks on the phone or in person. Always really intelligent conversation. Good sense of humor. Really going to missed that. I remember the time when. Kerry and Mike took me and my brother underneath the railway tracks behind their place cuz we wanted to go there so bad. It was pretty cool. Boy did he get trouble for that. - Posted by: Jay Rivard (Cousin) on: Sep 27, 2023

  • I met Kerry for the first time in the fall of 1985 when his brother Richard and I came to Winnipeg for his wedding. One of the first things we did was to recreate a current version of an old picture of the "tough" young Michael and Kerry. There have been frequent visits both of Richard and I to Winnipeg and Kerry and most recently his partner Susan to our home in King. Kerry gave a very emotional speech at our marriage which I will never forget. The next day, Kerry, Susan, his brothers Michael and Richard and myself all visited the McMichael Collection in Kleinberg before Kerry, Susan and Michael returned to Winnipeg. Richard and I had the pleasure to visit with Kerry and Susan as they insisted on our coming to Winnipeg to celebrate our winter birthday's in July. What a wonderful week we had together. Kerry's joie-de-vive will be dearly missed. - Posted by: Philip Dermott (Brother-in-law) on: Sep 26, 2023

  • Kerry was a generous friend. I know his son Geoffrey very well. Kerry offered me that I stay at his house on some occasions, when I visited Winnipeg. He had a genuine interest in what I was doing as a priest of Opus Dei, in Jesus Christ, in my Winnipeg relatives (one of my nieces had been a baby-sitter for his children when they were young), and in education and solidarity issues. I pray for him and all those he touched in his life. May God bless him. - Posted by: Father Fernando Mignone (friend) on: Sep 26, 2023

  • Kerry had so many attributes. His wit,his sense of humor and his sometimes brutal honesty. Kerry was loyal...! I loved his competitiveness. He will be missed. I miss him now as I write this. RIP old friend. 😪 Bernie - Posted by: Bernie Taronno (Friend ) on: Sep 25, 2023

  • I am so deeply saddened to hear the news of Kerry’s sudden passing. Kerry was a loving father and generous man who contributed widely to the Winnipeg community. I knew Kerry as the father of my niece, Jamie, and nephew, Geoffrey, and as grandfather to Misha. I remember fondly his years of dedication as a father, teacher, guitar musician, hockey player and admirer of nature. Kerry enjoyed hosting enjoyable family get-togethers in his Winnipeg home. He and his partner Susan always made me feel welcome at these gatherings. His sense of humour and easy-going, robust laugh were always contagious. As a dedicated educator and business owner in Winnipeg, he made extensive contributions to adult and youth education. He will be sadly missed. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
