QUENTIN MARVIN MOYER

April 29, 1956 - September 17, 2023

After a long courageous battle with cancer, Quentin Marvin Moyer passed away on September 17, 2023, at the age of 67.

Quentin loved spending time at the Lake of the Woods during his younger years with his favourite dog Max, both of whom enjoyed a good boat ride. He was an avid mountain biker, competing in races and commuting to work for many years.

Quentin loved listening to music and was a stereo aficionado. Sitting outside in the summer heat with family and friends listening to music with a beer was a day well spent. Quentin was the keeper of bad jokes, always ready with a new one for family gatherings. His laughter was infectious and could light up a room. Over the last year, Q was given the nickname of “Q-Hefner” always having more than one woman on his arm.

Quentin’s greatest love was his wife Linda, and they were able to celebrate their 47th year anniversary this summer. Linda fell in love with Quentin in high school, but early on she was not familiar with his name, so called him Sweetums, a pet name that stuck for years to come. Their love was inspirational to many, spanning many years and never losing the passion for each other that they developed at an early age.

He was predeceased by his father Laurence and brother Laurie. Quentin is survived by his mother Marie, but was able to join in her celebration of her 100th birthday earlier this year. He leaves his brothers, Chris, Rick (Susan) and his sister Sheryl (John). He also leaves many nieces and nephews including his niece Jenn who was there for him during his cancer journey. Last, but certainly not least, he will be mourned by his adopted family member Dar Korzinski.

His family wishes to thank the compassionate staff of Riverview Health Centre (3East), the Palliative Care Team, Home Care, staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Dr. Mena Bassily for their excellent care and for going above and beyond in multiple instances. Without these teams, his experience during treatment to the time of his passing would not have been as filled with laughter and memories as it was. Finally, a huge thank you to all the visits and support from neighbours, family and friends.

No formal service is planned and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Quentin to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

“If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I would walk up to heaven, and bring you back again.”

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My Sincere condolences to Linda and the entire Moyer Family. - Posted by: Jim Walker (Friend) on: Oct 07, 2023

  • What a perfect and lovely tribute to the memory of Quentin's personality and the man he was and is now in the beyond. It has been a great pleasure to be a neighbour of both Linda and Quentin's and an honour to have enjoyed a few occasions of laughter, music and great conversation on the patio in the summer heat with a beverage. You will be missed Quentin, rest peacefully. Linda, may you find comfort in memories made with Q and the love from friends and family at this time. - Posted by: Lisa Breurkens (Friend and neighbour) on: Sep 30, 2023
