Offer Condolences or MemoryFUSAYE (FAYE) HASHIMOTO
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Faye Hashimoto on Tuesday evening, October 10, 2023 at the Grace Hospital.
Faye was a wonderful daughter, wife, sister-in-law and aunt to many nieces and nephews and she will be extremely missed. A very independent, quiet and shy person who managed alone after the passing of her dear husband, Bruce or “Brucie” as she liked to call him. Bruce and Faye were married on September 16, 1961 and had a wonderful marriage until his untimely passing in 1987.
Faye was born on February 26, 1935 in Kennedy, B.C., In the municipality of Delta in an area called “Strawberry Hill”. She was the seventh child of Masajiro and Tsuya (nee Yoshikawa) Nagamori. Her siblings were, in order of age, Mas (Aster), Sid (Bette), Tad (Bunny), Mary (Bert) Watkins, Ray, Ruby (Richard) Oye and the youngest Lily (Toru) Hosaki. All have predeceased her leaving Lily as the sole survivor of the Nagamori siblings. She also leaves behind Chris Hashimoto and many nieces and nephews of the Nagamori and Hashimoto families.
The Nagamori family resided in Kennedy, B.C., until they were forced to relocate to Manitoba in April 1942 due to the war, and were made to work on the sugar beet farms. It was a tough uprooting for a child of seven who had to leave behind her favorite doll as the family was only allowed to bring minimal possessions with them. As a young adult, Faye worked for the Department of Transport for many years.
Faye was taken to the Grace Hospital on Monday, October 9, 2023 and passed suddenly on Tuesday evening, October 10, 2023. She passed quickly and without pain, which was what she had hoped for and for which we are truly grateful.
Thank you to all the nursing staff at the Grace Hospital, to her homecare workers and her neighbors who looked out for her and helped her on many occasions. Also, thank you to friends and relatives who reached out to her with food, gifts and cards over the years. She was very appreciative of your love and support.
A private family Celebration of Life is to be held in late October at the Manitoba Buddhist Temple in Winnipeg.
Should you wish to do so, in lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to the Buddhist Temple or a charity of your own choice

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Toru and Lily from my days at St. James Collegiate. Toru lived next door to me on Duffield Street. His mum was a beautiful seamstress and made my bridesmaid dresses back in 1964. So many memories…hard to believe so many years have passed. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Faye. We met Faye and Bruce many years ago as members of the JCCA. We 10 pin bowled with the Niesi league Friday nights and Faye was a wonderful person to everyone. God bless her. Barb & Jim Campbell - Posted by: Jim Campbell (Family Friend) on: Oct 14, 2023
