My deepest sympathy goes out to Gary's family. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Know that my prayers, thoughts and best wishes are with his family. I have always carried this one memory of Gary around with me and would like to share it. I was Gary's younger cousin and enjoyed visiting Uncle Eugene's family on the farm. One day, in Gary's early teen years, he took me horseback riding and I was small so I rode on the back clinging to Gary. I asked if we could go up a big "dirt" pile in the coral. Gary said that he just had a rope reins on the horse but that he'd give it a try. Halfway up I knew we were in serious trouble as the horse reared upwards going to fall back and on top of us. I yelled and Gary, using all his strength, pulled the horse's nose back down. Multiple times he struggled to gain control of the horse and barely got it back on the ground. As we got off, I saw the serious rope burns on both hands which were bleeding and as small as I was I grasped the reality that despite the enormous pain, he was not letting his "little cousin" get hurt. Gary, in my eyes was forever my "hero" and I have always kept that memory of him with me. For me, Gary will always be remembered as my "hero". Sending all my love to Garry’s family. I have so many great memories from the cabin that he put so much work and so many hours into. Memories of the house and when he brought Koda home when she was the tiniest puppy. Will always remember Garry doing all the barbecuing for work functions. His office door was always open and would listen to what you had to say and would take care of things. At my retirement event we spoke about me moving to Saskatoon and how he would like to do the same when when he retired. Our sincere condolences to the family for Garry's untimely passing. - Posted by: Chris Lawson (Past work college ) on: Oct 28, 2023
