It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Peter York, at the age of 92 on Sunday, October 15, 2023.
Peter was born on June 9, 1931 in Sarto, MB, to parents, Walter and Molly Yurkowski. He and Jean married on November 11, 1951. Together they established the Palomino Plains Motel on Pembina Hwy., York Insurance in Charleswood, and West Fork Equine Station near the Assiniboia Downs.
He is survived by his siblings, Jean Sawchuk, Martha (Leo) Klump, and Eugene York. He was predeceased by his wife Jean York (nee Gushuliak); his parents; and his siblings, Emil, Joe, Paul, Olga, and Stella.
Peter will be greatly missed by his daughter Eleanor Campbell (Stan Hilderman); his grandchildren, Evan Campbell and Arlynn (Jonathan) Wiebe; and his great-grandchildren, Emsley, Everton, Cayman and Caseton Wiebe; his brother Eugene York; as well as his long-time companion Lois Grocholski.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Howden Community Centre (1078 Red River Drive, Howden, MB).
