It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nellie Wasylnuk (nee Wepruk) on November 1, 2023, at Luther Home, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Nellie was born in Arbakka, Manitoba to Steve and Anne Wepruk and grew up on the family farm until she finished school and went to work in Winnipeg. She married Paul Wasylnuk on September 1, 1956, and they spent 67 years together.
Nellie was predeceased by her husband Paul on September 12, 2023, brother Nykola, sisters, Mary, Elsie and Catherine.
Left to mourn her passing is her sister Stella Woroniuk (Bob), sisters-in-law, Nettie Newton, Doreen Csati and many nieces and nephews.
Nellie and Paul moved to Transcona in 1970. They enjoyed fishing, mushroom picking at their trailer at Dorothy Lake in the Whiteshell. They also enjoyed many trips to the West Coast to visit family in Penticton, Vernon and Vancouver. One of their favourite stops was to have seafood at the Ship of the Seven Seas restaurant in North Vancouver and picking fruit in Penticton. Nellie was a volunteer making perogies at St. Michael’s Church in Transcona. She also went to Vancouver to help her sister Stella when her son was born.
Cremation has taken place.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street, Winnipeg, MB. Interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery, 5014 Dugald Road.

Our condolences to family and friends. We were next door neighbours to Nellie and Paul in Transcona for 19 years. A lovely couple and Nellie was a dear friend, teaching me many old recipes for Ukraine dishes. May you rest in peace Nellie, with your beloved Paul. - Posted by: Aileen and Graham Chaplin (Friends) on: Nov 04, 2023
