With sadness, we announce the passing of Patricia Aitken on November 12, 2023.

Given that Pat was the only Student Services Administrator in the very small School District of Whiteshell, she needed people from the Manitoba Department of Education to act as her 'sounding boards' at times. I enjoyed our phone conversations when Pat would seek clarification on provincial policy or we would talk through challenging situations or problem-solve in support of struggling students. Even if she was frustrated and needed to 'vent', Pat never gave up on her attempts to support a student. I felt honoured that Pat would sometimes take me into her confidence and share nuggets of her private life. It was clear that she never gave up when seeking support for her family either.
