Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySIDNEY WILLIS CARTER
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Sid on November 25, 2023. He was born in Wesleyville, NL, to his parents, Willis and Elizabeth Carter.
He leaves his wife Amy of 69 years; daughter Dawn Niedbala of Landsdowne, ON; his son David and his partner Florence Campbell of Pinawa, MB; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters. He was predeceased by his parents; infant son Ronald; daughter Diana Alexander; son-in-law Michael Niedbala; three brothers and three sisters.
Sidney grew up in Gander, NL, and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, in 1951, as he was too young for the RCMP. He spent 29 years in the RCAF and Canadian Forces as a Radar Tech 230. In 1977 he was honoured as Service Man of the Year for NORAD, an award that was presented in the United States.
On retirement from the military in 1979, they moved to Pinawa where he joined the Radiation and Industrial Safety Group working as a Health Surveyor at Atomic Energy Canada for the next 14 years.
In 2002, Sid and Amy decided it was time to downsize and they moved to Park Manor in Lac du Bonnet, MB where they still reside.
Sid was respected and loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed his weekly Poker nights with the boys, and both Sid and Amy loved to go to the Casinos.
Special thanks to the Home Care workers, the Paramedics, Dr. Garg, and Beausejour Hospital and HSC for doing what you could do to keep Sid comfortable.
In lieu of Flowers, please make a donation to the Salvation Army.
As per Sid’s request, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.
