Allan spent his last days at the Riverview Health Centre, surrounded by family and friends. After a short illness he passed away in the early morning of November 23rd.
Al married Lynne in the early 60s, and they had two children – Debbie (Marc) and Glen (Wendy). After separating, Al would meet Cheryl, with whom he also had two children – Hal and Lee-Ann, and a stepdaughter Lisa.
Al (Papa to his grand and great-grandchildren) leaves behind his sister Joan and children, as well as his extended family - grandchildren Allan (AJ) Bartosh and Matthew Bartosh (Biljana), great-grandchildren Jayla, Kelsey, Laila, Axel, and Brooklyn, nieces and nephews, and all his special friends – Ed (Nancy), Frank (Joan), Bob (Kathy), Tammy, Karen. Glen's family, Wendy, Harris, and Jo also enjoyed many family dinners with Dad, and Harris was a frequent visitor at Riverview who always left Al laughing. Everyone that knew Al always appreciated his sense of humour and generosity.
We wish to thank all the friends and family who have expressed their care and concern, and especially those who were able to come and visit Dad while he was ill. A special thank you from the family to Ed and Nancy Gray for being our rock from beginning to end. Our deepest gratitude to all the staff and caregivers at Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Ward, whose compassion and caring ensured that dad was able to spend his last days with the most comfort and peace that could be imagined.
Please consider making a donation to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation in memory of Allan in recognition of their care and kindness, that some other family can benefit in their time of need.
A celebration of life will be held at Royal Canadian Legion #9, 920 Nairn Avenue on January 13th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please join friends and family to, as dad would say, "have a beer!" and remember our father, friend, and family.

I have known the great Al for over 20 years. Al was the best friend anyone could ever have. He always made my daughter and myself laugh so hard at times. I remember once he had cashews and cat treat both on opposite sides of his t.v. table he always would eat on! anyways he took a good handful of temptations(cat treats) and started to chew them up as he thought they were cashews, well the look on his face when he figured out what he did, left us in stitches. He always had a shoulder to cry on and a listening ear. Al was always kind and will be remembered by all for his contagious laugh and wit..love ya bud may you rest in peace and spread those hard earned wings and fly you deserve it..love ya Allison and Serena. - Posted by: alli (friend) on: Dec 15, 2023

As he was my Dad's best friend, I've known Al my entire life. Because I grew up in Alberta, I got to see him when visiting my Dad during the summers mostly. I have fond memories of him at his trailer at West Hawk Lake. He always made everyone in his presence laugh and smile no matter what. He was so genuine and I recall very generous. Sending my deepest condolences to all his family and friends - Posted by: Lauree Gray (Ed Gray's daughter ) on: Dec 03, 2023
