Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I had the privelege of talking about the Alksne family through e-mails with Joyce. We talked on the phone once. I located her via the Lac du Bonnet Historical society. She sent a few pictures/e-mails. Jesse Hunt is my son. His Dad, Lea Alksne, died in 2009 from pulmonary hypertension. We now live on Vancouver Island, BC. I had wondered why I did not hear from Joyce and am sorry for your loss. She had a long life and was very proud of her root and her family. Ancestry and where and who we came from is important. Joyce was very helpful, Jesse has a son who may someday be interested in where his ancestors come from. - Posted by: Christina Hunt (mother of Jesse Hunt, Lea Alksne's son (Herbert's son)) on: May 19, 2025

  • Dear Goulet family...it has been so so many years since I last saw Auntie Joyce. I suppose she was the last of that generation of the strong Alksne women I came to know & love. The last of Lettonia pioneers. Wonderful memories of them all. I was privileged to be a small part of your family long ago & what now seems like a time so far away. But wanting to say I fondly remember your Mom in her younger years & I am sorry for your loss. Sending my thoughts & hugs to all. ❤️Amy. - Posted by: Amy Soroka Lagsdine (Family friend) on: Dec 19, 2023
