On December 3, 2023, in her 97th year, Ruth slipped anchor to join her beloved Charlie to sail off together into a distant sea only the stars know where.
Born in Winnipeg, to Elizabeth and Leslie Russell, on February 26, 1926. Predeceased by her five siblings, Bill, Ken, Dorothy, Raymond, and Marion. Adored, devoted mother to Jane (Eduard), John (Paula), Joe (Michelle), and Joan (Allan); Gram to Sarah (Jesse), Charlie, Benjamin, Nathanial, and Keegan; and Great-Gram to Phaedra.
After raising four children with Charlie in Riverview, Ruth worked as a telephone operator for The Bay. Ruth enjoyed serving numerous charitable organizations including Riverview Community Club, St. Alban’s Church and Victoria Hospital. We want to express heartfelt thanks to everyone for their many kindnesses and friendships to Ruth throughout her life and now in our time of sorrow, as well as to Ethical Death Care for their touching photo-biography video honoring Ruth's life. There will be no funeral as she wished.

I have known Mr. & Mrs. Bridle most of my life. I babysat Jane, John, Joe & Joan. The Bridles always had the greatest treats when I babysat & they insisted I eat them. (how could I refuse) then paid me so well, & Charlie always drove me safely home. Ruth & I once “walked” the Sun Run together & we came in ”dead last” but we did it! My sincerest condolences to Ruth's family. Ruth was a truly wonderful lady. I worked with Ruth at The Bay for several years, and it was always such a pleasure to spend time with her. I am so sorry to hear of Ruth's passing. Ruthie, as my folks called her, was a bright light in our lives. Ruth was in my mom's bridal party and was a dear friend to my dad even before knowing my mom, some 70 plus years ago. In more recent years, when it was difficult for my folks to get out, Ruth was forever present for a good chat about family but mostly about the good old days of their youth. They always felt better after a Ruthie visit. I truly appreciated Ruth's friendship as well as her cheerful and optimistic outlook on life. She will be missed. So sorry, Joan, Jane, Joe and John, to hear of your Mom’s passing. We will always remember her with joy in our hearts. We are glad we were able to spend some time with her this past summer. We always cherish our time with her. I enjoyed my walks around the beach with her as she reminisced about her Charlie and their times together at Grand Beach. She will now be walking around Heaven with her beloved Charlie. May God be with her till we meet again.
