It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elie, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend on December 6, 2023.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Dawna La Rose (Daniel Pereira) and Ernest Elias Choken, and granddaughter Merceydes-Lane La Rose (Indiana). Left also is brother, Claude St-Jacques (Marj) and sister, Anita Gruener (Don). He will be missed by many nieces and nephews, many friends, and the mother of his children, Jean Choken.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ulysse and Marie St-Jacques (née Côté), his sisters, Lucille Hogue (Edward), Lily Landry (Maurice), and Claudette in infancy, and by his grandson, Ricardo Pereira who was a great source of joy for Elie.
Elie was born in the family home in Aubigny, the son of Ulysse and Marie on April 5, 1940. He attended school in Aubigny, Otterburn, and then Ste. Agathe. He worked a full career with Soil Survey with the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba.
All who knew him loved him dearly.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. at Henderson Hwy. Viewing to be held half hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB
