Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE HELEN MITCHELL
It is with sorrow, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Joyce Mitchell in the early evening on December 21, 2023, shortly after her 88th birthday.
Mom, second eldest of 10, was born and raised in Lac du Bonnet, MB and later moved to Winnipeg where she met her husband Ross. They relocated to Pinawa in 1965 where they raised their family, later moved to Lac du Bonnet for many years, and finally, back to south Winnipeg. Mom was in care at the Deer Lodge Centre at the time of her passing.
Joyce was a dedicated loving mother, homemaker, an avid reader, gifted writer, liked to ski, curl, fish, swim, dance and travel. She was independent and career-driven; with a full family and work schedule, she commuted evenings and Saturdays, from Pinawa to Winnipeg to attend RRCC for a computer programming diploma with her friend Alberta. She programmed for researchers at the AECL Pinawa plant and the URL (underground research lab) near Lac du Bonnet.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Ross; parents, Cecil and Cassie Park; and many family members.
Mom is survived by her sons, Blake and Blair; daughter Barb Orr (Gerry); grandkids, Michael Tremblay and Apryl Schumann; great-grandkids, Brayden and Mikenna; sister Judy Kidd (Stuart); brother Kenny Park; sister-in-law Barbara Sinnema; and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all health staff who cared for Mom over the years and especially to the staff at Deer Lodge 7W, for their kindness and compassion.
No formal service will take place. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any charity to help feed those in need.

I am so sorry to hear of Joyce's passing. We were best friends many years ago going to school in Lac du Bonnet. After moving away I sadly lost touch with Joyce. We re connected in I think it was around 1991. After I moved to Winnipeg we saw each other every so often. Joyce let me read her stories she wrote. We drifted apart again sadly. Joyce was the only friend from long ago with whom I could relate, I have a few pics of us. And the one school pic where we were late and had to stand in the front row. Many happy and sometimes sad memories. Again my deepest condolences. - Posted by: Mae Bayly (friend) on: Jun 06, 2024
