CONSTANCE (CONI) ANANIA

Constance (Coni) Anania was born on June 8, 1950, in Amato, Italy, and passed away on January 8, 2024, at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Canada. Coni lost her life after a brief battle with cancer.

Born to Giovanna and Raffaele Anania, who along with her older sister Maria Scerbo (nee Anania), have predeceased her. Coni was extremely devoted to her family and was the primary caregiver to her mother Giovanna until her passing in 2005.

She is survived by her younger sister Carmelina; brother-in-law Mario Scerbo; her nephews, Charlie (Linda), Ralph (Justine), Mario (Tannis) and Peter; nieces, Tina (Mike) and Olympia; and great-nieces, Jenna, Sarah and Rachael.

Coni had an infectious laugh, an unwavering love for tennis, and an unmatched stubbornness that made her who she was. She was loved tremendously and surrounded by her family in her final days. She will forever and always remain in our hearts and be greatly missed.

A service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Rosary Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Hi, I don’t usually write anything on these occasions, however I did want to send condolences to the family. Growing up in Winnipeg, my family lived nearby Connie and Giovanna. We would often visit, and they would come to our place. I have many warm memories of those times. I have moved from Winnipeg but would occasionally see Connie when back for a visit and we had a few phone calls. She had a wonderful laugh, and was kind and warm, and beautiful inside and out. May she rest in peace.❤️ - Posted by: Maria Boni (Friend/relative ) on: Jan 12, 2024

  • I attended the service today. Very nice. I will miss my dear friend. I will miss our phone calls. Debates about tennis. Connie was true friend, always. I got home tonight and the 1st thing I thought about was wondering what she's up to, but she's gone, to be with Mary and she left too soon. Love you Constance forever.
