LAWRENCE JOHN SWIRSKY

July 21, 1940 - January 17, 2024


It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Swirsky on January 17, 2024 at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 83 years.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Lydia; children, Sharon, Gail (Dan), Larry (Darlene); his grandchildren, Kara, Shannon, Matthew, Mark, Candace, Cory, Anna and Clark; his great-grandchildren, Emerson, Karissa, Harrison, Calvin, Sullivan; sisters, Christine, Joanne, Beverley and brother Gerald; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son Dale; infant granddaughter Kelly; sisters, Barbara and Geraldine; and his parents, Mary and Joseph.

He never forgot his early life on the farm at Foley and Winnipeg Beach. He enjoyed his gardening at the cabin. His garden was his pride and joy, you would not find one weed as he was meticulous in keeping it in great condition.

John’s unwavering faith reflected in his kindness, compassion, and the grace with which he faced life’s challenges. He was a very caring, kind, and loving man, who always ended his texts and phone calls with love youse. A special thank you to everyone in John’s life, he truly loved everybody and he was very much loved.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing half hour prior to the service at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 4588 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. Lunch to follow. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winipeg, MB. All are welcome.
